The way Brisbane played yesterday's final quarter reminded me so much of our threepeat years. Such an overwhelming display of skill, confidence and brute force with players continually taking risks that came off.

No Chris Scott team will ever get close to that because he's too controlling, calculated & safe. The truly great coaches give players the freedom to trust their own instincts and back themselves, which is naturally dependent on having lots of talent to work, but when it does no structure in the world can ever hold up against it.
If Chris Scott is a master of anything it is his ability to control opposition (and umpires) thinking, behaviour and reactions. Much like society is controlled to a large degree. Much of it is an illusion. And football is not exactly an academic pursuit.

Christ Scott's power being largely based on an illusion would explain why he's so insecure, humourless & thin-skinned.

Chris Scott might be the biggest flog in the AFL (stiff competition from his flog of a brother)

Whining about the sub rule when you chose not to sub off a guy with a broken arm and instead sub off someone fully fit is one of the most embarrassing things to whinge about after having your pants pulled down GF day

And a little clip ro start the day

He (they?) hopefully has a good support system of friends, family, therapists. Needs a 6 month overseas holiday, since I’m sure staying in the “shrine” can’t be good for mental health. (Point still stands if the rant is supposed to be satire)

The master of deflection is at it again to avoid talk of the 70 to 7 shellacking with 1 quarter of game time.

Cats crying into their milk bowls 🥣 this Sunday morning.

Danger has a stinker. The taggers were beaten .. end of story. Midfield under pressure and turnover merchants all game.

Not one of life's graceful losers is Scotty. Did he mention "mission accomplished" by any chance?
No, but the salt from his presser could run many of the world's power stations for some time.

I didn't realise that Scott actually subbed off Stanley INSTEAD of Cameron.

What a ****ing idiot.
Spot on. Scott had a whinge about the sub rule in his presser claiming it was unfair that he had to wait for the medicos to see the extent of Cameron’s injury. Then he kept him on!!! What an idiot. Cameron was running around holding his arm and wrist in his other hand and Scott waited for the medicos? And what did the medicos tell him? Just a downright cockamamie piece of judgment. And this is why people dislike Chris Scott. Nobody’s fault but his and yet he seeks to blame the sub rule.

Pretty telling the difference between Oscar McInerney and Max Holmes' reactions after missing a grand final. Oscar couldn't have been happier when his teammates won last year, shown by his celebrations, especially with Fort, after the game. Meanwhile, part of Max was wishing his teammates lost in 2022.

Neale was only sub because of the injury. If was fit and played from the start the game would have been over at half time
The more I think about it the more genius a decision it was. Knowing they may only get half a game out of him you put him on after half time when everyone else is tired from playing high intensity football. And because it is in the midfield he has extra zip at the contest. Well done Fages.

The AFL need to cut that umbilical chord. Let’s see how they survive like the rest of us without the Geelong mafia.
17-4 free kicks in the first half. Umpires went in at half time. Someone tapped them on the shoulder and must have said…”this is too obvious. Square it up a little”. Geelong obviously didn’t take advantage of it in the first half. When the frees dried up. The REAL team won.

The “adversity” they faced behind closed doors

Finished top 2
Had a soft run home
Played bottom sides twice after finishing 3rd in 2024
Very few injuries all year

If his adversity was Stengle, Smith and suppression then that’s on them, they are after all the bad boy rehabilitation club

What a ****ing idiot.

You only had to take one look at that injury when they finally showed the replay and Cameron's reaction, and you're thinking: 'F^%$ me, Jeremy Cameron just broke his arm'.

So they strap it up with a donut to 'protect' the break, then double the dose when he takes a tumble on it and is in agony again.

He's effectively playing with one arm from the moment it happened.

It's great he's that tough he can push through pain like that. Super impressive. But it does sweet f$#@ all for his team to have a one armed guy running round.

Scott was probably too busy trying to come up with a new 'mission accomplished' line to explain the incoming loss.... so he left him out there.

Unexplainable, unforgivable. Not to mention dumb.

WTF was with Dangerfield going for a toilet break early in the first quarter??

It's been going on for years.

Danger needs to manufacture a crisis to get the best out of himself.

For years he goes off, puts on a bandage or limps around for a while, then comes back out and plays out of his skin against Hawthorn. It would be seriously funny, if it wasn't for the losses we endured as a result.

The Brisbane coaches went to school over the qf loss. They completely shut down Geelong's shut down game. Neale was the icing on the cake.

The sub rule was literally brought in to enable you to replace someone who gets a game ending injury inc concussion with a fit player. The coach chooses not to do this and then complains about the sub rule. For anyone old enough to remember “Happy Days”, the Fonz just couldn’t bring himself to say “ssss…orry” That’s Chris Scott, he just can’t bring himself to say “I was wrong”

At Hawthorn we call it the 'Mission Accomplished' principle.

Chris Scott has never been as cool as the Fonz though.

We aren’t that far off it.
The Cats tag the opponents best and hope Danger, Cameron and Smith put on a masterclass, worked in the prelim mainly due to Dangerfield but he couldn’t back it up.
The overt tagging is an admission from Scott that they aren’t good enough to go toe to toe with the better teams.

I’m not gonna say they’ll drop off, but I don’t think there’s a flag in this Geelong group, Holmes and Smith butcher the pill, players like Guthrie, Bowes, Clarke, Henry, Close and even Stengle are bog average.

I’m sure they’ll somehow manage to snag another easy draw and be thereabouts next year but I think as it stands, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Hawthorn and potentially Adelaide are better next year

They’ll make the 4 again probably. Bringing Marshall in is a significant upgrade on Stanley
