I think this year at least it has looked like he just dump kicked every time he's had his hands on it. Couldn't get enough space to do anything elseHe's actually not a bad kick when he's in space. He really worked on it hard with Mitchell learning how to deliver balls better I50. Has a very nice 20-30m kick to a leading target.
The problem with Worpel is he plays himself into trouble. Always takes an extra step or goes for an unnecessary fend off which results in him either getting done for HTB or having to rely on a dump kick.
Hawks will drive him to Geelong personallyhe's an RFA. Will only go to Geelong if Hawthorn want him to go.
Wish him all the best, can never question his desire and effort.. will give great service at Geelong like he has at Hawthorn

Only as far as Lara - then he's on his own.Hawks will drive him to Geelong personally
Assuming its around the $700k-$800k x 5 mark and Band 2 we will be happy for him to go. If its going to get us Band 3 we would be crazy to accept that.
Geelong would know this and know how to structure it for Band 2. We wouldnt accept Geelong's 2nd round and there is no way they'd want to use their 1st round.
This isnt a "how will the AFL rig this to be a 1st round pick" thing. I imagine it goes through very quickly and smoothly.

Why do we give a shit about what compensation pick you get? We'd offer him what we think he is worth and if you guys want to match and keep him, go ahead and keep him.
Because that is how it works literally every time a club approaches a player. You think Geelong just walk away after making an offer?
Geelong is well run. Clubs that **** up trades are terribly run.
Clubs that overpay are terribly run. Geelong don't overpay. Walking away from Hopper didn't hurt us.
You know there's a great thread on the Brad crouch FA move that covers this. Rather than rehashing the discussion we could probably just ctrl+F find replace crouch for worpel and call it a day.Because that is how it works literally every time a club approaches a player. Clubs don't do this for role players regardless of what side of the table you're on.
Is he a key midfielder at the Hawks? You think someone moves on from being a key midfielder to a role player?
Worpel must really hate living in Melbourne.
Role player, solid contributor, underrated cog in a good team...whatever the label, the point is more that he's not on the class of others. You think someone moves on from being a key midfielder to a role player?

Think about it, two players have been matched in the history of this format: Jeremy Cameron and Patrick Dangerfield. Generational talents.
Butters for instance will probably get matched next year unless Port finish bottom 4 - regardless of where he goes. He's that good.
It just doesn't happen with Worpel level players.
Maybe the fact he can't play anywhere else is the reason for that number.2nd in CBAs behind Newcombe. And he cant really play anywhere else.
Hawthorn will not be matching.Hopefully we sign him cheap or Hawthorn up there offer and he stays.

Yeah he’s gone to Geelong
May want to stay now.
