Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Yup... the COLA definitely helped them back in the 2000s.
The threepeat came on the back of that and a higher cap or playing list size, success was virtually guaranteed.

Eddie McGuire led the campaign to have all of those competitive advantages removed.

If Walsh is weighing up what to do after next year (evidently he is as he hasn’t signed on yet), why would he take the captaincy?

Jeeeeesus. Bloke missed almost the whole year with injury and managed to sneak back in for the final round, is contracted for another 12 months, of course he bloody hasn't signed yet - it's not an indication he wants out, it's an indication that he doesn't need to sign yet and is best to do so when he actually has a formline that his manager can use to ensure his next contract is maximised.

If Cripps reckons nobody else is "ready" yet, but Walsh or Weiters is "next", I'd say its got more to do with those two guys having interrupted/ordinary years respectively and needing to sort out personal form before taking on the added responsibility of the captaincy.

I like the Geelong won’t give up player x,y,z story line but
don’t forget that the players have to agree!- no talented player at Geelong is leaving them for us

You would have to be dead set stupid to leave Geelong for us!
The players required for Charlie aren’t “come for game time with us” we would want top tier talent, why the hell the would u agree to the trade
Everyone looks better in navy blue, remember!!! 😂😏

Mackie, on Channel 7, was frank that it’s Carlton who would set the price and if they couldn’t meet that price they wouldn’t deal. He said that they didn’t want to waste time on a trade if it clearly can’t be done.
I believe Curnow's manager has handled this poorly, l believe strong chance he will stay, certainly Geelong is not even a small chance.

Every single time we have traded with Geelong we have lost out. We have never come out with a good outcome. Never!!! Don’t care what Charlie would like. Geelong need to make a serious effort to get our attention right now…and to be fair! They were seriously embarrassed yesterday. Want to play…come up with something seriously worth our attention or GAGF.

No chance geelong will give up any of the good younger players like SDK Mier Dempsey
They expect to get premium for picks or B graders im so glad those cheats got flogged yesterday
Since they started courting him in May wonder if they implanted things in his head… mess with form, etc make it easier for us to get you, etc.

How a player with 4 years left on a contract is even spoken to so early in the season is poor sportsmanship. Suppose that’s why now we’ve had enough of it and GW saying we’ll do what’s best for Carlton, expect us to now become a lot more ruthless on and off the field.

We don't need to set anything.
Up to them to offer and we can consider it.

Sorry to intrude his manager approached the cats

We won the Hickmott trade

Not Carlton related but dunkley ran out on GF day with grade 3 syndesmosis. Essentially he’s torn all three ankle ligaments and will likely need reconstructive surgery. He won’t run for 6 months. Zero chance Brisbane can back it up. Starcevich could be medically retired (doubt WC want to trade for him now). Oscar Allen is an improvement but Draper isn’t any better than what they have, potentially disgruntles a few like Marshall, fort and Gallop.

Could these guys be potential trades for us?? I’d happily play fort instead of pitto.
It’s a 3-4 month injury for an AFL player who has successful surgery and is diligent with rehab. You believe Brisbane has no chance of backing it up? IMHO they have a great chance of executing a 3-peat. They had several important players who could not play in the GF, due to injury:

Payne, Doedee, Coleman, Hipwood, McCarthy, Answerth, Berry.

They have a lot of young guns who are likely to improve. Strong chance of becoming a dynasty!

Geelong just isn’t going to happen.
We’ve been clear we only want top line talent to trade out Charlie.

Even if they agreed to trade out a top liner or two they will never convince the player to move from a perennial premiership contender with the “Geelong life$tyle” to us.
Any steak knives first round picks or future picks they could throw in are next to useless as well as they will be pick 14-18 then drop further back with F/S and academy etc.

More likely Suns and maybe Swans who can get the deal done.

I think it’s still a better than 50% he’s at Carlton next year.

So how have the cats put the heat on us.Please explain.
So, to paraphrase, 'We want a player that's contracted for the next 4 years but we're not giving up any of our players'
I almost want us to give another club the deal of a lifetime just to spite those entitled FLOGS.
Writhe in the agony of your GF loss.

Off the top of my head Brisbane were missing Paine, Berry, Coleman, Hipwood, Doedee and probably others then add in Draper, Allen and the academy kid Annable.

They will be firm favourites again next year.

So in 2025 everyone associated with our beloved CFC has had a stinker. Players, coaches, execs, board, sponsors, recruiters, high performance dudes, but none more so than our ITK's it seems. C'mon guys, did nobody crack an invite to the GF this year? It's a time honoured tradition around here that we get some solid and juicy rumours right after the Granny. Spit it already!!!
