2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Yeah l disagree. Extending Ratts mid season when we were less than convincing to that point only for him to go on and lose nearly every game after that was the source of any industry mirth. Perhaps you mean the footy media who would find a way to shitcan us for a 3-peat if it evet happened. Ratts sacking was the deathknell of the amateurish acceptance and the dawn of a more focused and professional administration. Laughing stock? Piffle..
Matt Finnis seemed like a great person but a poor administrator.

I don’t mind trading one of Steele or marshal but we must keep imo some of the original guys. Otherwise we risk damaging our team identity.

Wilkie is a flat out no
Sadly, and not with any disrespect intended, it appears Steele will be the most expendable, due to the cover we have with Macrae. Can’t use both of them in the midfield anymore.

So if it comes down to a choice of Roma or Jack, I’m keeping the former, even though we’d probably get less for him.

What I have been told.

Wilkie has been offered 1.5 mil a year by the bulldogs. The only question mark is who they get in return (targeting Frejiah). Aleer is getting paid less than reported and will be a late pick. GWS have a salary squeeze.

As I reported earlier Flanders is likely at St Kilda. They kicked off everything with Merrit. They also have another inside Mid on the radar - not sure who?

I'm told SDk is currently part of discussions regarding Marshall and is a real possibility. Scott doesn't see how all of COS, Kolo, Henry and SDK all fit within the same backline.

Don't shoot the messenger

While the view the Saints will hold onto their contracted ruckman has softened, the expectation is that, if they do entertain a trade, their first preference will be to receive a proven player in return for Marshall.

That makes a deal more difficult. The more obvious outcome would be for the Saints to ask for a future pick as next year’s draft is commonly thought to have a stronger field of talent than this year’s.

Not sure that we haven't diluted our backline if that's the final outcome. Replaced Howard/ Caminiti with SDK- break even. JSOS for Wilkie -downgrade. Webster for Aleer- downgrade.

TDK for Marshall break even short term, possibly ahead long term.

Flanders for Steele- probable upgrade. Ryan for Buter- upgrade on 2025.

As per the post quoted by stavro#4

“As I reported earlier Flanders is likely at St Kilda. They kicked off everything with Merrit. They also have another inside Mid on the radar - not sure who?״

What’s that about Merrett?
And WE are looking at another inside mid? The so-called mystery mid?

I can’t see how the cats could get a deal for Curnow down.
Geelong are not prepared to give in order to get. Totally unreasonable.

Their draft capital is not strong. And they want a dual Coleman medalist who is contracted for another 4 years.

Carlton should just tell them to go away.

If the $1.5mil figure is true, then it's not wonder Wilkie hasn't come out publicly to refuse the offer. Could be almost twice as much as he's earning at the moment.
How the hell can he turn that down ( contracted yes, I know).
And honestly what would we expect to get get back from the Dogs?
Would have to be huge.

I’m refusing to even consider this happening.

If Voss values a job extension, I’m sure he’d be digging his heels right in.

Straight swap with frejiah would be the only thing that would turn heads imo, future gun. Otherwise no trade for wilks
Don’t know him.
What do others on here think about this trade?
