Where does Gross come into it?

From what I can tell it was:

To Carlton: 3, 63, 68 (from West Coast)

To Richmond: 14 (from Carlton)

To West Coast: Baker (from Richmond), Owies (from Carlton), 12 (from Carlton, used on Allan), 73 (from Carlton, unused?)

Did 73 come all the way into 46 (where Gross was drafted) once all the NGA shit was sorted? We drafted two players after Gross (Grego at 48 and Davis at 65).

Wasn't the prevailing view that we were likely to take Allan at 3 anyway. So splitting the pick netted us Baker, while still getting the guy we wanted? IMHO, the jury is still out on whether we should have rated Allan so highly. Early days, but we are also looking pretty stupid for ignoring Murphy Reid who is looking like a superstar. Allan's ability to play midfield has always been up for debate... did we give up pick 3 to basically get a half-back flanker?

Cool, thank you. So it could be also said it was Murphy Reid for Allan and Gross :moustache:

Was one of those picks in the 60s we sent to Carlton the pick we received for Darling?

If so we need to add that trade to it too I guess!

Not really

We still picked Allan while Reid was on the board. The slide back had nothing to do with us not taking Reid

Has that ever happened before, choosing not to play a player for a full quarter and bit if they’re not injured? There’s such a big made when teams are down a rotation.

Seems like smoke and mirrors from Brisbane, or ducks and drakes, or cloak and daggers or whatever the f it is. Shifty.
He could well have been sore and “injured” but not concussed. Still able to come on if needed but not needed. He could have had neck soreness, shoulder i jury etc. It is all speculation but he passed the concussion test so unless there are delayed symptoms, the latest hit seems a non-issue.

Not saying we shouldn’t do our DD, or that possible length of contract isn’t a concern with previous issues but he is a quality player and we need all we can get to attract other quality players.

Sen reporting it’s a four year deal not six.

It's almost as if no one knows for certain what the length of the contract is or the money involved.

Huh. Go figure.

Let's just keep raging at the 6 year, 900k offer though until we know for certain.

The Zane Duursma to Essendon rumours keep appearing. If the trade did eventuate, it would certainly be an interesting situation we will find ourselves in.

As many have already discussed on here, you would think that means the Bombers will have a crack at Pick 1. We would obviously have the upper hand (if we actually use said hand is probably another discussion). You would also think in that situation Willem Duursma and/or his manager will push the whole flight risk narrative to strong arm us back.

Would be a good test for old mate Clarkey. Should be an easy slam dunk either way, we get Duursma (best rated player in the draft) or we get something ridiculous from the Bombers. Let’s hope…

Look I'm trying to find the silver lining here and at the moment all you're giving me is Owies :straining:

What it means is that the pick 3 trade could've netted us Baker, Reid, Gross and your mate Owies which right now would look like a stroke of genius(minus the Owies part)

Well he could go and play reserves there I guess

Lol if we get rejected by Dev again

Word is King is keen to stay.

However Hardwick isn't a huge fan of King (grain of salt taken on that).

Definately something not settled with the Suns KP forward structure. Even though their fans post its not an area of need and the Suns don't need more KP forwards.

Something is happening in that space IMO. Too much noise about them looking at other tall forwards.
Maybe hardwick doesn't like king at 1.8 mill over 6 years .

Curnow at 1.4 million over 4 and a year of king /curnow overlap whilst the young guys develop is better .

And again you use a maybe to support your view.

Chris Judd went pick 3.

Fact is Draper at 3 versus Baker, Allan and Gross. You still split that pick.

If a Chris Judd was in the mix you hold your pick.

There wasn't a Chris Judd quality player there available. THATs the point.
My point that you keep missing is that we could have got Baker and gross without using pick 3 and had a much higher rated draftee .

I don't really rate allan and if he wasn't from WA neither would hardly anyone else

Allan did not have a good run at it this year. Year interrupted by illness, injury, suspension.

Could well turn out to be a good to very good player.

Pretty close.

Maybe swap the F2nd with a F3rd but it's reasonably close.

Not sure if Hawks can get back a pick they traded out last year. Some weird rule.

Basically it's pick 1 plus Hawks 2nd for 5 plus 6.

Butler for Eagles F2nd or F3rd.

Cal Twomey thinks we will get 4 extra rookie spots & a end of first round pick and also if we get Starcevich it won't interfere with the Oscar Allen compensation. Pretty happy with that. That'll give us 1,2,16,19,20,33. Not including the Chesser and Ryan picks if they are for this year.

I'm happy with that!

If we trade out pick 1 or 2 or both we are really f****** stupid.
