If Wilkie does want to come, how are we going to get the deal done? I doubt saints will want draft picks.

If draft picks alone won't suit them, recent trade history over the past decade or more says the most likely scenario would be a multi-club trade.

ie Wilkie to us, our pick/s to a 3rd club, a player from that 3rd club to the Saints (along with the movement of other picks to balance the trade).

The simplest scenario is we satisfy GC for Flanders to go to Saints. The Saints are offering Flanders more than they are paying Wilkie so sounds fair on paper.

A pretty easy selling point for their fans will be if the Dogs can satisfy the Suns’ trade demands for Flanders. Then its player out, player in, without us forcing anyone out

Funny how 1-2 weeks ago saints fans were saying no chance 😂. Seemed to have changed their tune

Even when they’re acknowledging it has legs they’re still hilarious:

The Bulldogs strategy has been reactionary rather than being planned and strategic. Emotion has almost certainly played a significant part in it. We know that from the reported timeline.

Our blokes will be clinical and rational. They are smart. You never know what can happen (for both clubs) as a result of these sudden recruiting raids.

****ing SOS & Gubby are clinical and rational? They’re two of the biggest loose units in list management who have been handing out huge offers for years and are literally in the middle of a wild spending spree.

Sam Power making moves based on emotion is almost as good. Bloke’s a robot.

Meanwhile most of us are pretty much at stage 5 with JUH I'd say. (A few stuck at stage 3)
Ive been at stage 5 with Marra for months 😂

Gubby blew up GWS's Salary Cap. Then went to the Pies and did the same ( thanks for Treloar Gubby). Now it's the Saints turn.
How he's still employed is beyond me.

Heard from a unusual source (2nd hand from a staffer of the club) that Wilkies mrs is pushing hard for him to take our deal.
And so she should 1.8m over 4 years when you are coming to the end should be thought provoking. Saints won't match that in the final years they won't have any cap room to do so

We went from first in defence to about 8th this year, and apart from jones falling of a cliff we basically had the same players to rely on so as much as I do agree we need a very reliable key back it’s our system that needs a tweak. And by no means am i letting our forwards and mids off the hook because we all know if there is not enough pressure up the ground you are exposing your back six far to often and eventually weight of forward 50 entries become goals that clearly cost us this year. We really aren’t to far off as we were in every game we played this year, it was very consistent but when the heat was turned up we just couldn’t compose ourselves enough to put the game back in our favour.
Was a combination of Jones dropping off and Duryea also. Doc was very important. I think Red was gone for most of the season but we also had Friejah playing mostly on defence - where he played very well.

Experience matters so much. For defence we keep wishing our kids would become mature bodies - they aren’t. Both KOD and Buss may end up very good players but are 2-3 years (maybe a bit more) from getting there.

This is why Morris was so Good when he went back - a competitor and knew how to use his body. I am a big fan of Williams gong back now that we have more defence coverage - if he works to add muscle back he will be very handy. At 190 he is one centimetre small than Wilke (whose timing is elite) but he can be very handy.

Butts would be great / genuine fullback and has shown he can play. Would be good for him and for us.

Ballard my favourite / a genuine quality player. Would do Jamarra and 10 for him. Need to go hard - and get it done.

If not - higher risk/potential master stroke is Riccardi - has played a couple of games in KPD and was good. A campaigner who could come home. Will get a permanent starting position at FB and could be great.

Wouldn't surprise me if we move Freijah back to defence. We have too many midfielders, and keep trying to squeeze them all into the team. If we do land Budarick. Would like to see Budarick, Dale, Freijah, Selwood as our small/medium brigade, along side Lobb/JOD, Wilkie/Butts, if we land one or the other. Looks a lot more competitive down back as well. Just need to make sure we are clean with the transition from defence.
