Plus he manages the pies captainAlso on the second point, given Pickering is still a player manager it's not in his interests to go hard on any club.
Spot on. I’ve heard you can shoot fish in themExcuse me. I have deep found respect for barrels. Can you please not disrespect them like that?

No. We could be on the cusp of losing Mihocek and Elliott so it’s a non starter unless that first rounder is a very good one that we can use elsewhere on say Petracca or King (just spitballing). The thing is no one is giving that so this is their play to maybe flip him to gettable at a better price.
FWIW this has GC written all over it.
We don’t want to make an art form of making prelims though. We need to find the X factor that gets us over the top.
That’s Bobby.
Mitch Cleary was bang on the money last night when he said the value for Hill right now is at its lowest point. A first round pick for Hill ain't happening.I'd be surprised if Elliott leaves. He's had a sensational year (and he's in my fav 3 players) but will he realistically repeat it next year?
Everyone is assuming Hill can get his head right and get back to 2023 form. For me that jury is out, which is why I'd be looking to move him.
Getting a 1st for Hill gives flexibility to make a move on a key forward or midfielder (Curnow, King, Zac Bailey or even Merrett).
Worst case is the 1st is used on a talented kid and we don't have many of these on the list.
FWIW, I would've also been talking to WCE during the season on before signing Cameron. I am against paying ruckman (except Gawn). Brisbane again proved the fallacy of paying a ruckman.
Go a year early rather than a year late, and that applies to Hill and the old guys as well.
This is wrong. Worst case is the first is used on a kid that doesn’t make it. Which happens very often and even if the kid does, unless it’s a top 5 pick it’s 2-3 seasons before they are really having an impact.I'd be surprised if Elliott leaves. .I’m next door to certain Elliott won’t back it up and I’m not in the corner of matching the Suns offer. Hill may not get back there, but you aren’t getting anything this year to move the dial on any of those players you named. No one is paying up because of the unknown. What you’re left with in your scenario is at best one of WC’s late 1sts or GC’s late 1st. A late 1st and maybe some compensation in the 40’s for Hill, Elliott and Mihocek isn’t moving the needle on our 2026 chances. It’s a nightmare scenario that would be akin to losing Treloar, Stephenson and Phillips in 2020 with nothing coming in.I'd be surprised if Elliott leaves. No, planet Earth.Uranus?
But some people believe enough heads of Football Departments are halfwits, and will give us a prime first rounder for Hill. Beggers belief.Mitch Cleary was bang on the money last night when he said the value for Hill right now is at its lowest point. A first round pick for Hill ain't happening.
It’ll literally be the opposite unless further change is coming. Ruckman now know where the ball is going to land every time so they can engage earlier and shift him easier. If I had to guess we knew this was coming and it’s why we told him to look around.centre bounce rule gone, need to keep Cox now
or would other clubs go after him for the same reasoncentre bounce rule gone, need to keep Cox now
Agree on Cameron but do we know how much we are actually paying him?I’m next door to certain Elliott won’t back it up and I’m not in the corner of matching the Suns offer. You got the like for the Cameron comment. I think from a purely analytical perspective letting him walk was the correct play. We’ve seen what an absolute shit truck Fort could do in the Lions mix and I think it’s a massive mistake chasing Draper to replace McInerney, but good luck to them. The big catch is that his personality made him a glue guy and you need to look after your glue guys because his future being in the balance messed up the locker room. IMO, we’ve become too reliant on his intercept marking protecting the back 6 and Brisbane are a team that have figured out how to nullify that with a shit truck…
Shame. I like the bounce. Gives a touch of unpredictabilitycentre bounce rule gone, need to keep Cox now
I imagine $800k at least and the haircut is on the likely $1m + he’d have got at WC. IMO, it’s too much on a ruckman and the premium is on his locker room presence which is the only reason I’m cool with it.Agree on Cameron but do we know how much we are actually paying him?
I mean, more than Darcy Fort, presumably, but he did take a haircut to stay at the pies
It was good when they had umpires who knew how to bounceShame. I like the bounce. Gives a touch of unpredictability
I would prefer just to have it once every quarter and thats it. Nothing better than hearing the first bound in an eerie dead quiet in the first final.Shame. I like the bounce. Gives a touch of unpredictability
Agree, a little tradition is nice.I would prefer just to have it once every quarter and thats it. Nothing better than hearing the first bound in an eerie dead quiet in the first final.
Not if it was causing certain scumps to retire because they couldn't bounce. Science has proven that the unco-ordinated are better at umpiring decisions.Agree, a little tradition is nice.
Umpires sooked their way to victory.
I tell you what, their decision making better improve.
