A 1.8 million free agent hasn't existed before, this isn't case law, the AFL can give whatever pick they choose to, they could say for example with the net loss of TDK and Silvagni say O.K we will give you pick 10 and 11 to satisfy us. That's how the AFL works.Every single free agency compensation pick ever handed out has fit under the parameters I've described to you. It's incredibly simple and I've even provided you with the full list to prove that what I'm saying is factual.
I've asked you for an example of what you've described and you can't even provide one because it doesn't exist.

Yeah no I don't think so, completely buckbroken. There are rules.
This has been the way it has been for like a decade.
You are just making up a fantasy world where we can get a different outcome by demanding it.

Here ya go...Yeah no I don't think so, completely buckbroken.
This page also describes the magic formula (in as much detail as we're allowed to know).Draft picks will be allocated to one of five places:
- 1st round
- end of 1st round
- 2nd round
- end of 2nd round
- 3rd round
IMO that is people misreading the intent of the rule.It is the highest pick (Band 1) possible under the current compensation pick rules.
The only thing we could possibly ask for is an upgrade on the Jack Silvagni pick as the wording in the rules does suggest a "net lose" ie. total ins and outs. But I don't think that will happen.
We paid 2 first rounders, a second rounder and Owies for SmithThere is no fair value in paying 2 x high 1st rounders for a draftee that is unproven at AFL level.
Top echelon don’t get that in trades.
Just make it a match and move along. If the club gets an advantage, so be it, swings & roundabouts and luck of the draw.
Mid first? What do you mean? There’s no such thingNo future In that. Should be pushing for a mid first for the JSOS compo. Given the offer seems to match Draper and Allen’s offer.
This is not truePretty sure that's not true. Band 1 isn't necessarily tied to where you finish, it can be wherever they deem the value to be. Including 2 picks
Go Hard Blues
Cox frampton and a date with Fly …I laugh at this stuff, what would Collingwood have to offer in a trade
Indeed.Sorry but I'm yet to see any evidence of anyone being ruthless at the club for a long time.
When are they going to get 'ruthless' with the AFL? A ruthless club would be pushing for 2 first round picks for TDK for a record 1.8million contract prime Ruck about to hit his peak. Yet here we are meekly accepting unders from the system as usual.
A ruthless club would be threating all kinds of action over the changes to the father son. That are going to see us bent over yet again... after other clubs have been gifted dynasties.
All I'm seeing is the usual meekness from this club.
A lot of you just fall for the same old spin and chinese whispers.
'Mr new guru is the bee knees just wait you'll see, he's going to sort it out .. trust in Mr xxx" Seen it with Silvagni etc etc, and all objectivity goes straight out the window.
Nothing ever happens
Melbourne are the scary ones though because they will now shed whomever is going to get them Humphrey.I laugh at this stuff, what would Collingwood have to offer in a trade
Well that’s ok too- if we can’t compete on salary etc that’s fine. We want to balance our list better depthMelbourne are the scary ones though because they will now shed whomever is going to get them Humphrey.
Petracca may be talking to Adelaide but Melbourne may choose GCS for Humphrey, and will have freed up more Cap space in Oliver, Petracca & May.
No current season stats available
Read the rule book. Why are we accepting one mid first for a record free agency? Should be pick 1 or two mid firsts.
Don't you dare threaten me with a good timeReckon Allen, TDK, Silvagni and Draper all net band 1 compo and the first round in an especially weak draft will be an absolute dogs breakfast.
Buddy at an average of 1.1 million over 11 years some 13 years ago is every bit as good as 1.8 over 7 this many years later, pick 19 as band 1 compensationA 1.8 million free agent hasn't existed before, this isn't case law, the AFL can give whatever pick they choose to, they could say for example with the net loss of TDK and Silvagni say O.K we will give you pick 10 and 11 to satisfy us. Age will come into the equation. The Oscar Allen and Silvagni contract offers are very similar, I'd be burning down AFL house if you blokes dont get band 1 for him leaving to go with the TDK band 1 compo.
Reckon Allen, TDK, Silvagni and Draper all net band 1 compo and the first round in an especially weak draft will be an absolute dogs breakfast.
I would think Humphrey has the final say on where he would be traded to.Melbourne are the scary ones though because they will now shed whomever is going to get them Humphrey.
Petracca may be talking to Adelaide but Melbourne may choose GCS for Humphrey, and will have freed up more Cap space in Oliver, Petracca & May.
Petracca is the fly in our ointment because clubs will say he improves them and will cost them less than Curnow.
OR, what if they offer up Petracca and Oliver to GCS for Humphrey, with Dimma backing himself to handle Oliver?
Taking far too long to announce these rule changes. Need to maximise the time given to list managers to prepare. Will get 1-2 days max now before trade period starts.Expecting first round and end of first round picks for TDK and JSOS.
Definitely looking at improving our 2026 hand this year. League to formally announce rules for 2026 in the next day or two - plenty of clubs still pushing back following the commission meeting a couple of weeks ago.
