Nothing new. I was told in May you guys will make a play for Duursma which came from within your club but I have no idea what picks you’re prepared to offer.

It looks like one of us will end up with GCS pick 7, you’ll have 9 if Merrett leaves.

I suspect we’d look seriously at an offer that included 2 x top 10 picks. Will depend a lot on who Richmond wants at 3,4.

Turning Duursma into two of Sharp, Cumming and Schubert with something later going back to you would personally be very appealing.

Put it this way, North have apparently told him to work on his fitness, work rate and competitive side. Fitness & work rate can improve, but competitive side issues? No thanks. If they don’t bite as a puppy, they won’t bite as a dog

That's very different from his older brother who is both a hard runner and competitive/fearless. I wonder if he'd lift playing alongside X?

Look I think it makes sense for everyone for a lot of reasons. There’s talk of a bigger trade involving North and us. As Bombers want young players more than picks, your end might look something like:

ESS OUT: Merrett, Pick 5,6
ESS IN: Pick 1 (W Duursma), 25, Z Duursma, MacKenzie

Not sure if that is or isn’t palatable to you.

I saw the discussion you and ant555 had in earnest. Good arguments both ways but yes I think we can all agree the FA system is totally ****ed.

I think the draper compensation is about what we get on the free market.

The real issue is clubs will push players out so they take a free agency deal. Like Allen is clearly not worth pick 2 and west coast havent even offered him a deal.

We did but it’s very clear we’d prefer pick 2. If we didn’t have a number of good KPFs that may look different.
