They are pretty good mates and both would give us some genuine young exciting talent especially with Kako and Caddy!

Definitely! Especially if we are going to lose Merrett. We need to bring some excitement into the club for next season. We can’t put all our eggs in one basket with a bunch of picks in a “weak” draft.

I do not think there is any doubt we would be looking at making Humphrey an offer. That would be a given.
I am just a bit suspect when I read clubs are saying he is gettable.
It was reported that Redman was reaching out to other clubs as well but it was the other way around.
I do not actually see the GC being interested in trading him.

As much as I'm absolutely filthy at Merrett for the way he's handled the last month, I can't compare him to Oliver. Even in the last 24 hours, look at how they both have handled being asked whether they're leaving their clubs.

Oliver has huge issues that I hope he can sort out, but no part of me would want him, even if he were free.

Have I said that though? His actions have absolutely tarnished his reputation amongst fans, no question about it.

Oliver's issues are completely separate from Merrett's, but he's been a bigger challenge to manage than Zach has over a longer period of time. Merrett up until the end of August had caused very little issues that we know of.

I think if you are contracted player wanting to break that contract then I believe that club has the discretion to choose any other that most satisfies in a trade. What is the point of FA if a player can just break a contract and still have the power to choose a preferred club?

One day they'll realise that "nominate a state" is the fairest way forward for contracted players wishing to leave.

Really poor look for the AFL. If Allen is then Draper is. Simple. Basically the same contract by all reports but Draper is 6 months older.

I hope the club makes some noise and calls the AFL out on favouritism.
