Zac Bailey or Zak Butters as a free agent in 2026 with all the spare cash... Would not mind the look of this team whatsoever.

Hi all, long time lurker first time poster.

FWIW, in short I see our trade window going something along the lines of

Curnow -> Swans for 1st, F1 and Florent with potentially a later pick heading back to Sydney.

3rd rounders this year or future or pick upgrades to WC & WB for Chesser & Khamis.

Hoping Elijah pulls his head in once and for all and makes the most of the opportunity afforded to him. We are a different side with him as that mid-fwd link.

TDK compo already on the table, is there a chance this forms the basis of a play for Humphrey? Not against bringing him in but also not as high on him as some others seen to be.

Potentially be able to draft with the Swans first if Charlie trade proceeds and Dean doesn’t receive a bid, then use SOS compo to match the most part of Dean bid, grab Ison and then rookie Gresham.

Anyhow excited for the coming weeks and keen to become a part of the forum

So swap Florent for Hayward in that deal.

I also hope EH gets another chance somehow... by all reports he's already been given the boot though I think??

And I still think it's more likely Curnow remains at Carlton. Not against him leaving as his knee is looking like it's going to limit him for the rest of his career - just a matter of by how much. Took about 50% off him this year.

A 1.8 million free agent hasn't existed before, this isn't case law, the AFL can give whatever pick they choose to, they could say for example with the net loss of TDK and Silvagni say O.K we will give you pick 10 and 11 to satisfy us. That's how the AFL works.

What parallel universe are you living in where the AFL does anything to be fair to Carlton? After the best part of a decade in the bottom 4 our additional assistance was A) ridiculously late and B) completely inadequate.

Free agency compensation for Jarrad Waite was what? Zero. 120+ goals for North over 4 years.

We get our first top 3 father son on the horizon and immediately the AFL starts looking at scrapping the rule for 1st round for the first time ever... must be a coincidence right?

Maybe... In terms of trade value Hayward is a pretty big deal.

Florent spent time in the VFL and really struggled this season. Not sure how keen we'd be if we got Hayward. He's not quite in the salary cap dump scenario but not too far away.

I think we'd be more likely to push for Logan McDonald.

The key learnings for me so far is GW does not want to persist with the top-heavy contract situation.

The vast majority of our cap going to Walsh, Cripps, Curnow, McKay, Weits, Williams and TDK is not how you win premierships.

And secondly - having a list full of guys who can't kick is not how you win premierships.
