I do think Marshall and Cats/C.Scott would be a great fit tho. He's not a typical ruck and I think he'd shine in Geelong's system

I'd prefer to keep him than get a pick in the 20s tho

I'm with you there, he would be a great fit and most fans have been frustrated watching us not play a real ruck for a decade and a half.

The Aleer situation is a bad look I'll agree.

But I'm not sure how we can be painted as the bad guys for not trading a contracted player for unders.

Geelong have gone after two big named contracted players and so far have only offered unders. Clubs shouldn't have to fold in this situation to make player managers happy.

In the Marshall trade I disagree it's unders, it's just a realistic trade a 30 year old good not great ruck. Understand saints fans won't agree.

On Curnow we just went straight to offering the literal most we can actually legally offer. Not much else we can do

Clearly we disagree on Marshall's value then. A pick in the mid 20's doesn't seem like enough to me.

You can legally offer a lot more for Curnow, you just have to trade out players. If you aren't prepared to do that then there is no way of landing Curnow.

Marshall at his best was on the top 6 for rucks and can play forward.

I had been thinking that the saints would be silly to let him go with the 23 man system now in place. Marshall plays forward and TDK rucks.

Saints actually made a competent decision.

They absolutely need Marshall.

The only people who have said “this really needs to get done for Geelong” has been Saints fans in here saying that’s the Ruck spot the reason Geelong lost the Grand Final which is hilarious, Geelong haven’t genuinely cared about having a Ruck for over 15 years with the current coach. Why would that be different now?

We got beaten in the midfield by midfielders who are elite and our forward smalls got well beaten by Lions running half backs and defenders, the ruck was far from the biggest issue.

I dunno, the narrative on Curnow is that it's way off and I can understand that because you see what he's capable of and it's clearly elite. But with a guy who has had that much knee surgery it's a high risk gamble. I can see both perspectives.

Valuing rucks is tricky too. They're rarely game breaking players, mostly just a box ticking exercise. Marshall is good, he'd would suit us very well, and I personally would offer our future first, I can see where player managers would see the trade as out of line with ruckman valuations.

Didn’t we just beat you and your Ruck in Meek using Blicavs/SDK? And we beat the Lions in the Qualifying Final using Blicavs/SDK.

How much was written about Gawn being a competent forward and being exactly what Melbourne needed to balance and bring height to their forward line?
