Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Rowbottom is an inside mid, last year we got rid of Matt Kennedy because we had too many inside mids. Why would we lose a key forward to recruit another inside mid? Hayward is a forward flanker, good player but realistically we have a number of players we could roll through there. Going the other way we would be giving up a generational talent, 2 x Coleman medalist Key position forward. We only have one other key forward and on average he will miss games. We no longer have TDK to throw up front; all we would have left would be undersized swingmen like Kemp and maybe Khamis if that deal goes through. make it make sense, surely we are after another key forward, we even delisted our project forward in Lemmy. If Charlie goes, we are seriously undermanned for key forwards.

  • Agree Rowy isn't the type we should be going for. He's a tackle machine though. He will 100% keep Lord out of the side.
  • Who are the number of good players we can roll through there? None of them are as good as Hayward currently.
  • TDK was useless up forward
  • We also have HOK who we can play there

One more thing to note, of course losing Charlie in the forward line is going to be a bad result for us. But a more dynamic forward line could really work in our favour.

Ainsworth Kemp Hayward
Williams Harry Moir

I wouldn't mind that setup at all tbh...

It needs to be x2 first rounders and 2 players.

Or 3x 1st rounders and a player...

Rowbottom could get the F1 off Pies... add that to #11 + F1(Swans) + Hayward...

That's a done deal every day. Sydney won't want to do it without us sending more back though...

Curnow + F3 + 27F2 might get it done.

That’s why we should keep McGovern if / when Charlie departs..
As a forward backup (Kemp’s return could be questionable), and trained there for the required role.

I for one think Florent will come back and bite us in the ass, he's a decent player and by the sounds of it on a bigger contract then he deserves say this reset works and we sky rocket into the top 8 in the next 2 years we don't want this blokes wage stopping us from being able to get a good player that wants to come and we can't afford like houston this year

I believe we'd front end his deal and the final couple of years would be on an average, below average salary. Makes it much more palatable and he's still a better fit off HB than anyone we currently have at least for the next couple of seasons anyway. i genuinely believe he'll be a good pick up like Chesser and Ainsworth. All three make us a better overall team IMO.

I don't blame Williams or any player for getting the most coin they can.

re his attitude, well we sold the idea of him becoming a mid and he turned up unfit. Then he never developed his engine after that either.

The reality is, he has not lived up to the $ we've paid him... just like Gov and Cerra...
Cerra is a different kettle of fish to the other two. Ultra professional and always tries his guts out but been terribly unlucky with injury and probably not the 'talent' the club initially hoped for. Still hopeful that he can get back to his 2023 form with a good run at it.

Have to remember we are talking about depth. It’s a top 30 that wins flags. Cripps & Hewett are wrong side of 30. Rowbottom Jagga Lord Cerra Walsh Walker could easily be the core midfield of our next great side. The X factor is then what Wilson Moir Ollie Chesser BenC can become. I think Ainsworth Motlop and maybe Elijah can add midfield minutes. Pick 3 this year as well?

IMO that’s bloody exciting.

This year he really fell off... his kicking particularly i50 was atrocious.

Hopefully just a bad season, I've always rated his kicking skills.

I'd rather save the cash front end someone else already on our list and get more games into carrol and Wilson.
Will have Newman back next year aswell.
Save the coin for a genuine A grader

I think that it will probably end up a three club trade.

I just feel that the swans are working on sorting out another party.

Will swing big:

Carlton

Out: Curnow

In: Pick 11, West Coast Future 1st, Will Hayward, Jobe Shanahan

Sydney

Out: Pick 11, Future 1st, Will Hayward, Logan McDonald

In: Charlie Curnow

West Coast

Out: Future 1st, Jobe Shanahan

In: Logan McDonald, Sydney Future 1st
WCE politely ask the AFL to test the Swans for a crack pipe test..

I'd rather get the Pies F1 than Rowy.

I would also hope that we are targeting Rowell for 27 FA... I really think he's gettable.

I'd rather play HOK or even Reidy there than gov tbh...
Won’t go the Reidy option but HOK at least has a dip & versatility. Some more improvement ahead and was clunking them at times.

Mitch would hopefully taken the end is near to heart, knowing full well that he’s just about done and realised 2fifths of FA out of his career. Surely there’s some resolve there…
Or he’s just taken the p155!

No way Sydney going that

Best thing about having Wright and Davies is that they won’t give Williams a 2 year minimum money deal like the club did with Gov. Williams will be gone in 12 months in a clean break.
Williams is easily our best performing small forward. Cutting him over bitterness about how much the club paid him in his previous contract isn’t my idea of good list management.

How about cutting any of the lesser small forwards on our list first?

Don't sleep on Reidy... he played there in WAFL and was decent enough. Kemp 1st, then HOK to challenge him, Reidy/Young = break glass in case of emergency options.

Need to move away from conditional players like Gov imo.
