I have never resonated so much with a fictional character as much as I currently do with Bruce Banner.

...DURING TRADE WEEK. SNUFF' SMASH! ARRRRRGH!!!"

Actually in the new system the difference between 12 and 14 and 37 is equivalent to pick 44. It's not a massively better deal. At the very least the idea we could trade two picks in the mid 30s for a high 20 picks is clearly wrong by this pricing
We would have had 34, 37, 44, 51 if we had that trade though, equiv of 17

The actual issue would be who do we trade with before draft night to get the picks, the points value otherwise would be there

We helped facilitate picks 17, 23 and Allen to the reigning premiers and picks 2, 13 and Starcevich to our rivals while downgrading our first 7 spots and weakening our overall hand… for an OOC 22 year old half back who had already nominated us… 2 days into the trade period.

Can we stop with the mental gymnastics trying to justify this? Regardless of whether we rate this draft or not, it’s a terrible trade. End of story.

Nobody is trading pick 20 with third rounders coming back unless they need the points, and no-one needed that many.
You would assume that we floated and were knocked back on a variety of trades by the holders of pick 21ish to pick 25ish, so instead we've gone the unspecified future favours route (the extra late picks). Can only judge this one in hindsight I reckon (i.e post draft).

Again I don't want any replies along the lines of Walls did it because he's stupid or gasping for a pint; Do it and I'll brick you.

I'd hope that we'd be looking at players at Sydney, Hawthorn and maybe Geelong given the Merrett and Curnow pursuits. There's talks of players being involved in both trades if they end up happening. And I can't imagine too many players with first-round level value are thrilled at the prospect of going to Carlton or Essendon. Those trades, if they end up happening at all, will surely be some sort of multi-clubber.

Merrett won't get done IMO and Geelong won't get Curnow or Marshall.

At the end of trade period Geelong has added Worpel and Hawthorn lost him. And how much were we complaining about these teams getting better...

Really? I haven't been following it too closely but I assumed all 3 would go to other clubs, Curnow to Sydney not cats though. What's changed?

Lucas is not a one position player. He regularly played CHF when resting and would also have the occasional stint in defence when required.

Shhh. Lucas is a slow, lumbering tree who can only play at the stoppage and doesn't have a defensive game.

At least until we match the bid.

Keep the lid on as tight as possible.

The lack of offers at the time could definitely be a justification, but that assumes other clubs' priorities don't change over the train period or they're not willing to risk it

Seems odd people are melting about that GWS trade. GWS just showed that pick 37 is hardly worth anything this year, and people are losing their minds about us losing 34
One trade for pick 12 had someone paying the equivalent of pick 44 to move up...

One trade for pick 12 had giving up 41 to move down...

41 and 44 together equal pick 33 in points. In other words, like ive said, Freo effectively chucked in pick 33/34 for shits and giggles.

Blues, GC, Brissy, Bombers all need points and all have picks in the 15-30 range

Clearly I mean a second component that benefits Freo not WC.

Could be a pick swap in our favour at the end of trade week or during draft night where we go that seems unusual.
I have this nagging thought that, perhaps we might get Neale back on the cheap at the end of the trade period.

I don't care what Brierty said, there is no way we don't take him back if a suitable deal is on the table. He would be great for 2 years, he couldn't be any worse than Fyfe was the last couple of years...

Merrett hasn't officially requested a trade yet.

Yes, Curnow to Sydney.

St Kilda not talking to Geelong about Marshall.

I'd say if the media isn't reporting progress on these trades tomorrow they don't happen.

My understanding is that Lucas only has one leg, literally, and is legally blind.

If Freo can’t trade pick 20 back to Brisbane directly there will be a 3rd club and merry go round of picks.

Gold Coast a chance.

We will still get a future 1 off someone… minimum. Likely Brisbane.

Brisbane will get 18, not 20.
Gold Coast move to 20.

All sorts of later pick swap shenanigans.

Eagles will play their part by not bidding on either Uwland or Anabel.

There’s a ‘handshake agreement’

I’m just not smart enough to work out what it is.

The above scenario isn’t too far fetched.

Can’t see it involving a third club. Just Freo and Brisbane.

I honestly think you’re looking too big as well. Something smaller.

Swap of later picks, once that bid match on Annable goes through.
