You setting market value is no more valid than any other poster setting market value.
I'm not setting the market value. None of us here are.
The market sets the value. Those doing the buying and selling. Supply and demand. Until now, there has been no demand for the asking price of our asset. That's the market sending a message.

The "other clubs" are the market. If we price ourselves out of the market then of course there will be no buyers.

Us saying he's worth 2 first rounders (and again, he isn't), is just us over valuing our player, which makes us look silly.

Sure, it might be a tactic to ensure we keep him (although that would be giving Brady too much credit), but for me I'd prefer to move on a bloke who doesn't want to be there, doesn't want to do what's best for the team, and doesn't deserve to be captain.

You can already see the shit we'll cop if he isn't traded, even more so next year if he doesn't perform when we had the chance to move him on.
How the **** does it make us look silly?

He's our contracted captain. We can and should set a high price.

So far we're on point.

If it doesn't work he can try his luck again next year.

And the year after.

And the year after that.

which makes us look silly.

You know what makes us look silly?

Paying pick 25 for a bloke that was playing VFL, when that same club accepted pick 17 for a guy (who is an f***wit ) who actively moved the needle for a side in the premiership window.

If I get to choose which way I look silly, keeping Jy to his contract or overpaying for a spud I know which one I am choosing.

And we are under approximately 0% obligation to take anything under what would be considered an inflated asking price.

We own the asset. We set the price. We don’t have to do a single thing.

How about we just do what is in our best interests and don't worry about looking silly or what people will say about us?

against that serial North hater Barrett.

I heard something unconfirmed from a source that I implicitly trust that this troglodyte attended the hospital on the day of the bridge incident with Maj seeking comment from the club when they would not answer his calls. Told in no uncertain terms to FO.

If that is true then this sewer rat should be barred from the club forever.

Clear as day our "set value" of two first rounders is the response to them getting it out there they thought he wasn't worth one. We're probably going to get it done halfway because it is the right thing for us, it solves a long running issue as to where we play Jy, it buys us a list spot and it takes his wage off our books. We're not desperate to do any of this stuff but their are tendrils of benefit if he is not with us next year. If they give us more, great. If he stays, fine because he has a role right now.

Has Jy even requested a trade to anyone let alone Collingwood

If I am right he has said he is not happy not getting midfield time not sure how that has now become I want to go to Collingwood

Have we? From whose perspective?

I'm yet to hear anyone outside our club say "yeah, that's a decent asking price, Jy is worth 2 first rounders".

Because he isn't.
Firstly, he's worth a top 10 pick, or two first round picks outside top 10 IMO. He is a captain, far from ageing, and is on a long term contract. Take it or leave it. Simple as that.

This.

St Kilda are currently operating as a small club giving no ****s about anyone else.

It's the way to go. I hope we also grind it out, we have the cap space and aren't in a premiership window.

If the club wants to stare Jy down unless we get handsomely compensated and leave him to sulk in 2026 I'll back them in 100%.

Part of me agrees with you. But then again, we are desperate for experience, go after blokes like Parker, while happily giving away a player in his prime, a captain no less? Doesn't make a lot of sense. And taking his wage off our books is hardly a pressing need. Who else are we going to pay, that we couldn't otherwise? Not to mention, there is every chance that part of his contract will remain on our books as Collingwood won't be able to fit all of it under their cap.

The problem is, I don't think we've put the property out to the market properly. There's been no sign up, no marketing campaign and no open for inspections. We should've done all that, put it to auction and found out what the best offer was. If we didn't like the offer, pass it in and keep it. Instead we've had one person walk in off the street and we only seem to be negotiating with them. That's crazy - there are 16 other potential buyers.

Just a question for those that follow these things (I do not), is Jy interacting with any of the boys on instagram? Liking a holiday pic etc. or vice/versa, the players interacting with Jy?

a little different! the FW was out of contact, and geelong had them by the short and curlies, it was take 17 or risk the PSD and get nothing

I'd argue this one the other way.

Collingwood want to grab an off the books listing from an old granny who is happy to stay put.

Pay up or FRO.

alot of houses get sold without ever hitting the open market, to save on such relocation costs
