Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Charlie and his team have been looking for a trade since start of the year

His attitude and efforts this year were poor.

Only a month ago he said he wasn’t going anywhere and is now in Sydney viewing facilities

As far as I’m concerned this has to happen and will and I say good riddance. If youre not committed I don’t want you no matter how talented you are

Exactly some people are just complete flogs
There absolutely nothing wrong with watching your mates win and enjoy it with them
I'm with you on the second line, not on the first, we can disagree without making it personal.

He’s a good player that has had a bad year. Nice run and ball use off HB. Again, more depth, only 25 and another mature body to help development.

Not every player is a star but I think he fits in well

He's also pretty good at finishing when running i50...

Not a bad addition at all especially considering he's the steak knives of the deal...

I don't care...

It's a big deal to me, instead of having a burning desire to be there with his team, he's happy to celebrate success of other teams...

Especially after having a shit year himself, piss off to Geelong for their pick 40 then!
It's not that deep mate

I won't be happy about losing him without really good compensation, regardless, but if it happens, we move on and make the best of it.

Two best 22 players and two first rounders makes it one of the biggest trade hauls ever. This for a soon to be 29 year old. It still feels unders but if Charlie is going to be a problem next year I think we’ve done pretty well.

Unfortunately we are dealing with people and with a system weighted towards the players. The A graders have to want to come. We will be in a better position to attract them in 12 months time.
Change the system by not accepting what’s not acceptable for your football club.

Feeling pretty flat, cant see how this trade makes us better. I can see how it instantly makes Sydney better hence why they are jumping at the deal. The old adage of key position players being worth more than flankers or mids rings pretty loudly. We're trading away a very good key forward for a couple of flankers and some picks that help us get a mid. I hope Nick Austin has a plan up his sleeve to get us another key forward from somewhere. We have gone from having built a team around a good spine to seeing a large part of it leave in a short space of time. The replacements seem to be either draftee kids or undersized swingmen. When Harry has a spell on the sidelines we're going to be in trouble.

Is there a concern that Hayward and florent aren’t 100% onboard?
Do you know if swans will pay some of Florent’s wage as Charlie is supposedly taking less money?

100% with you Soap.

Instead of showing the right attitude throughout the season, he stunk it up on purpose because he didn't care.

That is a slap in the face of all members and supporters of this club... the club that stood by him despite:

  • DUI heading into the draft
  • Damaging his knee playing basketball
  • Damaging his knee on the stair case
  • Numerous questionable off field activities

We then signed him on the long term deal that he wanted...

We looked out for him instead of playing him underdone in the ef... despite him declaring himself fit to play... now we're responsible for his issues with his body? What a croc...

He is def part of the problem, and so like you said, good riddance!

I just don’t see how it happens without us having something planned for this years picks, 10+11 would both get swallowed up in a dean bid so there has to be something else in play here
yep - if we were shopping the TDK compo around no doubt we will be shopping the equivalent fo two TDK compo picks around

Yeah no coming back to Carlton from here .. I think it’s a great thing for us if we do well with the picks

Summary of trade period:

Hayward: “I’m happy to go to Carlton.”

Swans’ List Manager: “No he’s not. It’s all rumours!”

Journos: “No one wants to go to Carlton.”

Hayward: “I’m off to Brazil.”

Journos: “Hayward would rather go to Brazil than Carlton.”

Swans’ List Manager: “Hayward, you’re on the trade table.”

Journos: “We always told you it would be a mega deal involving Hayward.”

Or very close to being done imo
Yeah, I remember Bradshaw and Rischitelli touring Princes Park in 2009, they were meant to be part of the Fevola trade, never happened. I want to see a trade completed officially before saying it's done.

I know some on here wanted (and still want) the world in return for Charlie, but that simply was never ever a reality.

To potentially end up with two first round picks, a player in Hayward who absolutely is a first round pick and Florent who at his best is at worst a second rounder.

Factor in that we almost guarantee getting Cody now, and have picks to play around with and I'd say I absolutely tip my hat to Austin and Co.

This was not an easy situation at all to deal with, but if that's the deal that lands, then they've done very well.

Addition by subtraction is a powerful thing.
Nah man, if what we get is Hayward, Florent and two bog average draft picks (pick 14-15 in a weak draft and what, pick 17 or 18 next year?), that's an awful trade

Sometimes it is just subtraction by subtraction, and we have done an awful lot of subtraction in the past few years.

We have two A grade players on the list (ie players who have made multiple All Australian teams). One of those is contracted for four years. To trade him away and not even get a B grade player OR a top 10 pick is just dumb.
