Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Hold . They need Charlie more than we need Florent and Haywood .

Hold for what? They aren't giving up Larkey, Gulden, Heeney or Warner.

This is one occasion where the supporters are being short-sighted and entitled. Our salary cap blew out because we gave too much to too few. We still have 4 million dollar players. How many do other clubs have? Spread the talent across the team, not have 6 elites and a whole lot of C graders. Haven't we learned our lesson?
100% this.

We were headed for a cliff with tassie coming in and imo have done a terrific job resetting the list. We have a talented young core surrounded by some quality experience and still hold top end talent across every line. All of this with Cody to come and cap space to have a crack at a FA.

As others have said, the mix is far more important than having a heavy top end with no depth. Losing Charlie will suck, he’s a gun. He will absolutely dominate in Sydney as he should and good on him if he does. He is an incredible footballer to watch when he’s in full flight.

For us though - Hayward and Kemp can take a mark, but more importantly, can lock the ball in when it hits the ground. That other tall guy in our forward line has also won a Coleman. I think we’ll be just fine without Charlie.

Mate we played in a prelim 2 years ago us supporters and I can tell you atleast 1 player is saying the same thing its not time to give up we get a rare opertunity to have so much salary cap opening up with out actually losing something that is going to destroy the club if they recruit smart here with how many A graders is available we can bounce into the top 4 no problem what so ever

Feeling pretty flat, cant see how this trade makes us better. I can see how it instantly makes Sydney better hence why they are jumping at the deal. The old adage of key position players being worth more than flankers or mids rings pretty loudly. We're trading away a very good key forward for a couple of flankers and some picks that help us get a mid. I hope Nick Austin has a plan up his sleeve to get us another key forward from somewhere. We have gone from having built a team around a good spine to seeing a large part of it leave in a short space of time. The replacements seem to be either draftee kids or undersized swingmen. When Harry has a spell on the sidelines we're going to be in trouble.
Hey mate we have HOK, kemp, lewis young as potential KFWD replacements if mckay goes down. In fact id be giving lewis young the second KFWD spot in the team anyway. The guy didnt put a foot wrong when u played there in the season. A team first player.

Surely not, looked like a lost ruckman in the few games he had there this year.

We are trading our best forward for a pick before the one we already have and a pick we have to give up (along with another 1st round pick) for one player.

So we are effectively trading Curnow and 2 x 1st rounders for Walker and pick 10 this year.

If anyone offered you that at the start of the year, when would you have stopped laughing?

Florent + Hayward contracts > Curnow contract. Until 2029. How are we saving any salary cap?

2 players list spots as opposed to one on top of what we were going to pay TDK & Jack and finishing off McGovern deal. We can now bank some money

We're trading away a guy who has checked out and doesn't want to be at the club anymore. I don't know why people are unhappy about this.

I'm not sure we need much more outside of a 18 year old to develop.

Ison coming in. Possibly Buku as well who can play both ends.

I really like O'Keeffe and want him to get some opportunities.

I like the idea of McKay with a few medium marking targets.

I love the idea we will be a lot less predictable

Can live with that deal if it boils down to it.

Would prefer some tweaks, but despite applying for the Head Of Football gig I'm not calling the shots as yet. Haven't heard back, but have a good feeling.

Have a niggle in the back of my mind that all of Hayward, Ainsworth and Florent come with lengthy contracts...but it's not like they would be holding much back at present.

Plenty of other players outside of their top few. Take the 27 first over Florent .

I'm not sure we are quibbling over 27 or Florent. I'd do the pick if we could trade 10 and 11 for something big though.

Sheesh you'd swear Florent was Cam O'Shea or something the way some people are reacting

He is definitely best 23 for the next 2 years at minimum.

Main issue for me is his contract length and that they are essentially forcing him and his salary out. He should hold no value in a trade for Charlie but would be a solid addition nonetheless.

If the Swans are dragging him into it I’d want a swap of an F2 for an F3 as well, or something similar. Other clubs probably need to get involved.
