Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

This ain’t consistent and he’s now in his latter peak productivity years.

Fact of the matter is he’s never been healthy enough often enough to be consistent, and this year his own attitude has become a factor. He doesn’t try hard enough when things aren’t going his way.

His best being amazing is what we’ll argue this for trade value, but realistically, he’s never been reliable or consistent in a big picture sense.

He has an awful lot of trade value though and the club can capitalise on this for a net gain.
Your last sentence doesn't seem too consistent with your first.

For what it’s worth, Sam McClure doesn’t think Florent will be part of the Charlie trade. He’s close to D’Orazio and Connor’s management.
This deal seems to progressively be getting smaller. By 3pm it will be Curnow and Hayward straight swap and then tomorrow it will be Curnow + F1 for a F3 😭

Simply unacceptable if we can’t get Sydney’s 25&26 firsts (or upgraded to an early first with a third club).

Players can’t/wont be dealt, I understand, but a mid and late first should have taken a couple mins to negotiate as the basis.

With all due respect to the poster ...

But there is a lot of over-reaction here to a poster whose initial info had Charlie staying, now saying that he thinks the trade will happen today (so is already wrong on one of those pieces of info), admits that he doesn't know what the deal is, has a "feeling" we are getting hosed, and asks "what if" (in relation to 1 pick). Clearly this poster doesn't know. It's all a grain of salt stuff.

We appreciate your info xDQ and I dont mean this as any disrespect.

No it doesn’t 😂

Clubs will still pay a lot for a key forward in their latter peak years.

Its just laughable how some of the posters here only view Charlie with rose coloured glasses and act like he jags 70 goals year in, year out.

Reality is he’s only kicked 50 plus three times in 9 years…

If the mooted trades are what is being offered then I'm a touch underwhelmed. I'd prefer we keep Charlie and back ourselves to get him going again. I'd like to see him used in a more moblie role working up to half back from the top of the 50. Essentially the modern day CHF.
Unless a deal has been worked out for the incoming picks for a needle mover of coarse.

I'd like to see how the team functions with the additions of Newman, Ainsworth, Chesser & J Smith before I threw Charlie to the curb.
Even if we trade him next year, it is into a better draft with us having had a year to plan on replacements. Or trade him the following year for a suite of Tassie picks ... and Charlie can get that retirement fund he is after during the twilight of his career.

Also gives Geelong a chance to miss another premiership and think about a fairer offer.

It’s indeed a sad thing to say but Id except picks 10+F1+F2 +Hayward and we’ll accommodate Florent as good will gesture.
At least this way one of Ben or Baku trade cost is amortized.
A disgruntled and disruptive influence is of little value to our team.

I think we're overreacting on two counts here.

One - Yes, Charlie is one of the best forwards of his generation, BUT....losing him is not going to completely destroy the list. Tope players move all the time and teams survive.

Two - Yes, Charlie wanting to leave while contracted (and possibly front-loaded) is bad, BUT..... the names he is being called is way OTT. Has no one ever wanted to change employers before? Has no one ever wanted a change of scenery? Anyone ever had a boss or co-workers that they didn't get along with? If Charlie played for Sydney and we wanted to recruit him, while contracted, we wouldn't be calling him Judas 2.0...

I think a lot of posters need a Horlicks and lie down...
