Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

If the Swans are making their offer public, then we have them by the balls.

We can back out of this a LOT easier than they can.

"Sorry Charlie. We value you so much that two first rounders and two players doesn't cut it. We love you, want to keep you here and think we can succeed with you. Come back and give it a try with Ainsworth and the other changes"

Vs

"Sorry Ollie/Will. Yep, I know we tried to sell you off in favour of something shinier, but we do like you too. Please don't be sad... No we haven't added much to he team that missed finals, we were too busy trying to get Curnow"

NOw is the time to squeeze and set the club up for the next decade. Remember how important Charlie is to us. Our junior memberships are named 'charlie's club'. He is the number of the back of 30,000 kids. How are they going to feel about 'oh, yeah, Charlie plays for Sydney now. But it's ok, we got...'

It has to be overwhelming... 2027 first HAS to go in as well. Is there another player? Dattoli or someone else who won't play next year for them anyway? Keep going....

Or Carlton is the source of the leak & preparing us so when we get a little more after negotiating we go “well it could have been worse and Sydney’s first offer.

Surely Aleer is better for us than any of McGovern/Saad/Young and in the long-term Haynes?

No time for a medical though?
You’d think he’d be a good option at lots of clubs, Carlton, NM, WCE, Dogs, Collingwood. It’s interesting that St Kilda fell over & then NM looked at it and pulled out. Something more to the story? Seems obvious for so many & GWS would deal it, as they would have planned life without him & list spots become an issue for them with him sticking around

Don’t think everyone seems to grasp all the other off field factors here, alongside Cripps Charlie is one of the faces of the club, it’s like Luka to the lakers except we can’t hope for the afl to give us a handout like cooper Flagg, until the mavs got pick 1 the fallout was massive and the team was an absolute mess

To me, Harry is the better "footy player", Charlie the more talented.

Harry is willing to work a lot harder up and down the ground, apply REAL defensive pressure and in my opinion will absolutely thrive as the "main man".

Add to the fact that he will have the likes of Moir, Ainsworth and Hayward who all are great at leading patterns and marking overhead.

I can not wait to see our new forward 50 lineup on action!
And we have Kemp to come back as well.

And I remember the days when our forward line consisted of Hamill and Whitnall. Hamill, our CHF was 184cm tall and Whitnall was 192. We followed up Hamill with Fev... another tall beast... at 191cm tall.

Harry is quick... I mean run down mids quick. He knows how to lead properly and with a bunch of medium and small forwards around him he'll thrive. Remember that he won a Coleman playing as the lone tall forward.

So why does he have such great trade value?

Don't get me wrong. I think he is a valuable commodity and that's why I'm not critical of him like many on here. he was, IMV, a great player before he wanted out and still is. I would much prefer a motivated Charlie than anything we can get for him. Sadly I think that train seems to have left the station.
Because he’s still talented and in the latter part of his prime 🤷‍♂️, the Swans would happily take a calculated risk.

If a club saw itself as a genuine flag chance and needed another key forward, it makes total sense they’d launch at him.

That said, he’s never really been a great player - more someone who’s put together some excellent seasons.

True greatness is about a body of work, not isolated peaks. But the isolated peaks are enough to uphold his trade value, which is why we should go for it

Why TF do people have a bee in their bonnet over Florent's salary? Just take a look at some of the utterly shit contracts Carlton had paid over the last decade will you?🤷‍♂️🙄

How about because it's the smart thing to do for a change? Why TF would you just take on Florent's full salary for another 4 years, seemingly at a premium, when you may be able to negotiate something better?

FMD...just because we've made dumb contract decisions in the past doesn't mean we need to continue making them into the future.
