Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Let me get this straight.

Will Hayward offered big money to go to Carlton in 2024.

Hayward sign five year extension in June 2024 at Sydney for LESS money than he was offered at Carlton.

Then just two months later Sydney sign on his company to be official Seltzer partners.

I mean, could it be any more obvious, taking less money to stay then magically getting a business contract from the club two months later.

Does the AFL integrity unit even try?
Apparently Dillon has just purchased 3 years supply of cheap orange facial spray tan.

Come here in peace.

Not 100% sure what the final deal looks like today (but I doubt that 22 is part of it).

But from a Swan's fan POV if the deal goes through you are getting two wonderful players in both Florent and Hayward.

Hayward - Know a lot of people talk him up for his finishing or one on one contested work, but there are other strengths to his game, his tough as nails and regularly plays through injury (In fact if the game is close and he gets injured somehow he always tends to lift when there is a bit of adversary).

Hayward is also one of those players who can win a contest without the ball being sent to him perfectly, his athletic enough to bring the ball to ground and is decent once the ball is there as well regularly roving off packs or his own contests.

He can go missing a little in games (bit of a Sydney problem as we tend to use kicks to lead up players, where Hayward would excel a bit more if we went longer to the teeth of goal a bit more regularly).

Florent - Was one of my own favourites for years (Since I saw him nail the winner on the run against North in his first year), unfortunately he was moved out of position mid last year and Cox never really seemed to like him (He prefers players who are a bit more defensively focused).

I am sure people have already waxed lyrical around his kicking, durability and movement but will break it down a little bit. Florent's best trait is when he can weave in and out of traffic, he is exceptionally mobile in the contest with ball in hand, whether that is around the ball or off the half back flank. I have always thought he was best on the outside of the contest, where he can use his agility to avoid a player and set up the next play (is deceptively good by hand).

I think Florent would really flourish with a role where is he a bit more unstructured, and definitely not responsible for a direct opponent, he played this role early last year and was exceptional before Longmire moved him to the half back flank and he went a little downhill.

Lastly both players are exceptionally popular with our playing group and will bring in some great culture.

Fair few of our fans are not happy with the deal and losing both players, but if it goes through I will definitely be cheering on both in Carlton colours (Unless they are playing the Swans of course)
Thanks for the insights. As much as it would be hard losing Curnow, would be pretty excited about both these guys. I think Florents being pretty underrated on here, off the back of one poor season and Cox clearly not being a fan.

Outside run and mid-sized forwards that can kick goals from the air and the ground, are pretty much our 2 biggest list gaps. These guys are exactly that, even if they aren't A-Graders like Curnow

Dont think we've ever crossed paths but you seem like a decent Swannie :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Mate, just like Ainsworth - if Florent thrives without structure, he's coming to the right place!

I'm assuming his manager must have passed it on earlier and we knocked it back.

Still not sure why they'd still submit it then though?
wanted to wait for Gerard Healy to have his rant on tv about 11+SF1+WH+OF for CC+22 being a bad deal & overs for Charlie?...

I think Florent is extremely underrated by Cox, he was a staple on Longmires side for years (And I would do dirty things to bring Longmire back as coach).

If he is used correctly he will be a fantastic player, he also puts in the hard yards on the track.

I reckon it will end up being more a case of Hayward isn’t thrilled to be moving clubs, but he will be professional enough to know it’s a business at the end of the day and will give 100% for his new club.

The person to blame for Hayward getting uprooted from his club is Charlie Curnow who has cracked the sads with four years to run on his contract. If Charlie didn’t do that, Hayward would be staying at his club and not moving to a different club.

I would have thought that the person to blame was COX - the bloke who wanted curnow?

Simple for me... The year 8s are listening to Trade Radio for the rest of the day

Hypothetical trade offers based on the draft points system for Math in P3+4

They will probably understand DVI better than the AFL...

Easy fix... Dead fish until 3:15pm so they can't open their eyes to see you scrolling.

Struck me, as one of those examples, of a coach being too focused on a player's weaknesses rather than his strengths.

I'm actually surprised Florent had to be pushed, to look elsewhere for opportunity. Think it was always in his best interests. If your coach clearly doesn't rate you as with Cox and Florent, it's nearly impossible to maximise your career.

It makes sense that a head coach from a different club would want Charlie Curnow, but the player first has to want to leave his club.

2 Firsts, Hayward, Florent, not amazing but passable, definataly not a blow away deal as suggested it would be in here

2 Firsts, Hayward, Florent with 22 going back....terrible trade

At this point if it's the second option I would rather keep him. The first I guess we move on without him and hope the Sydney boys can improve us
