I’m pretty sure that’s in terms of using trade assets.

Using a rookie list spot for depth for a DFA or a SSP player is something that all teams do.
He was also talking about it in terms of taking a list spot that could be used for another player.

Either way, Frost and Gardner are about the same thing. No point in having two spuds on the list.

Being behind Battle and Barass is no shame. He was good the year before. He’s shown he can play at AFL level where as Gardner goes to pieces. He’s limited but he’s fine if he plays within himself, I don’t mind it.
Have you ever listened to Dermott Brereton comment on his beloved Hawks whenever Frost is in the side?

He talks about him with equal parts condescension, mockery and pity. And as much as I generally dont care for Dermott's analysis, he tends to lean more on the positive side of his player assessments as most ex-players tend to. Corn Kanes being the notable exception in this regard.

Should we select him in the PSD. Which I doubt. Then Im pretty sure that this board will pick up Dermotts torch and run with it.

Needs more Butters and Butts
I think it's going to an interesting next trade period in 2026
With Sydney's bid on Curnow being three 1st round picks, that will very likely be the bid + a few 2nd's for a OOC 🧈 and whatever status Butts contract is.
The next tassie drafts are going to change the value of 1st round picks, this is without that unlimited Northern academies.

You would hope we go all GC/Sydney on Butters and to a much much lesser extent, Butts, next year.

With our salary cap and all our our 1st/2nd draft picks we have enough assets.
If we need more assets Colonel will guarantee 2..1st round picks off tassie.
No1 mission is get The Bont enough talent to get him more cups at the 🐕

Kicked 4 in QF and PF

Played backline pretty much rest of his games and was solid there showed great signs just has an awkward running gait which makes people think he is unathletic
That shows me Walker has talent and versatility in big games. VFL finals is a great way to showcase your talents.

We’ve done so well bringing Regan in. Very confident that he’s going to do good things with the list.
We can see the clear shift to multi-year thinking with him at the helm, which us good.

A lot of our earlier list management (the McCombs of the world) were clearly a one-season thinking proposition.

Perfect example happened in 2013 Western Bulldogs crying out for another forward option trade pick 26 for Stewart Crameri wins us some games in 2014 however that pick ended up being Zach Merrett and I know which one I'd prefer

Crameri was very unlucky to have got mixed up with the Essendon drug drama, and possibly missed out on being a premiership player as a result.

If we didn't trade heavily for Butts this trade period I didn't think we will next trade period.

Buss & JoD with two pre-seasons extra under their belt for the 2027 season should be ready.

Frost makes no sense people. Frost played 2 AFL games, Gardner 1 yet Gards won VFL full back of the year. Frost did not.

Frost is not an upgrade on Gards.
I haven’t seen Frost play for a couple of years but if that’s the case he must be cooked

Not bad for an UNSERIOUS list management team
It's an interesting one,

I would much rather our route then the serious club like St Kilda,

The Aleer saga will have flow on effects they are burying their head in the sand for,

They've spent 900k on an injury prone midsized KPD who is marginally better then what they had,

900k + pick 7 for a nice outside player but has no real inside game NWM/Flanders/Windhager/Macrae is still an awful midfield group and losing Steele will hurt more then they realise off field but again with their players as he will be popular in the group

1.8 million on a ruck who is solid but not brilliant whilst holding onto their aging one (neither can play forward well and they will essentially blunt their expensive signing like Carlton did in his games with Pitonett this year)

700k on Ryan who adds nothing extra to their forward line and has been declining for years

We on the other hand got troublemakers off the books still have a solid draft hand a better younger core and the ability to add to that in the coming years with a Butters type next year and anything else that comes available as we have planned properly to do so

Implement a more defensive mindset and structure is all we can do. We don't have quality 1 on 1 defenders, the stats highlight that, so we need to change our game plan. Will Bevo do it, unlikely. Don't think Buss will make it, has some strengths but too many weaknesses, pace and 1 on 1 being what we need. Hopes he proves me wrong.

I would have thrown Leek Aleer a lifeline. Granted not exactly what we are looking for yet isn't that what good coaches and team structures are there for. Anyone who saw him win the game for the Giants down Geelong know the talent is there and there was something to work with. Not the end of the world though. Just seemed a very safe trade period and clearly the club does not think our defense is a major issue. I just hope Lobb holds up and the cliff comes quickly from 32 onwards, we have all been there.

You could argue that whilst we are relatively successful, we should be doing more, like Geelong Hawthorn targeting needs in the last few years. As once we bottom, we won't attract anything. We have probably 5 more Bont years to do something, then our cycle down will come.
Jedd has pretty broad shoulders that look like they could stack on some serious size. Got to remember he’s injured both of them previously and hasn’t completed a full preseason. Give him a chance to build the mass up to improve his one on one game.

Agreed - hard to smash the weight room with sore shoulders. Hopefully he's putting in reps this summer

Wonder what Ah Chee's contract demands in the Pre Season Draft will be?
Wouldn't mind the Dogs snaffling him before Adelaide as we don't owe them any favours - Ridiculous price on Butts, tried to unsettle Sanders along with comments that they will try again, and of course the infamous TaliaGate.
Ah Chee would be a handy acquisition.
