He did grannie, but he also wore 11 and 12, and 11 was the number he wore in the most games for us: https://forever.collingwoodfc.com.au/players/raymond-jones

On Collingwood Forever, a player's main number is always shown at the top in this section^, with any other numbers worn for us shown down the bottom.

No. 11 - 13 games
No. 12 - 4 games
No. 13 - 5 games

Were they still doing alphabetical order at that point?

Buller might allow McStay to go back to just a Pure Forward now
Agree Dave. I think that McStay's potential has been derailed to some extent by the requirement to play a ruck role as well as forward.

I get the feeling that he will be at his best when he can focus on one specific role that suits his capabilities, ie as a second forward.

Hmmm not so sure a marriage in the 1950s produced offspring capable of giving birth in 2001
It does seem a stretch unless they had children in the 60s.
I agree that it does seem like that would be a fair stretch, but I don't see how else it could have happened, as he apparently only had a son from the second marriage!

I've spoken to our Club Historian again on this topic, and someone at the club who was communicating with one of Jack's parents was advised by them that "there was already a CFC connection because his grandfather Ray Jones had played for us". So there shouldn't be any doubt about that side of it!

By '60's standards, could Jones and the missus have had a late start to parenthood?

And, in turn, passed that onto one of their daughters who could've been anywhere from 32-41* at Jack's birth?

*More commonplace in the 2020's.

It would be nice to know for sure who the parents are, Redman! I guess we'll find out one of these days.

I haven't been able to track down a death notice for Ray, which is a bit surprising and quite annoying, as that might have given us some decent clues. Ancestry has very little on him as well, with only one (very ordinary) tree, from what I've seen.

Yes thanks, I do know that, and had already read that article which the club released after he died. A newspaper death notice (from the family) is what I was hoping to find.
