Yes, they still were (e.g. 1948): https://afltables.com/afl/stats/1948.html#4Were they still doing alphabetical order at that point?
More likely to be a great grandfather?Fun fact!: Jack Buller is the grandson of Ray Jones, who played for Collingwood in the 1940s:-

Ray also played one game for Melbourne (1949), was a Premiership player for South Fremantle (WAFL) in 1953, and had a very successful career as an architect.

He may have been virile into his 30s!More likely to be a great grandfather?
Agree Dave. I think that McStay's potential has been derailed to some extent by the requirement to play a ruck role as well as forward.Buller might allow McStay to go back to just a Pure Forward now
Hmmm not so sure a marriage in the 1950s produced offspring capable of giving birth in 2001Ray Jones was married a couple of times, and I presume that one of his daughters from the first marriage married a Buller, and our Jack was their offspring. I think that would add up okay!

Ray's father (Ray senior) was an Olympic boxer.
That might have been written by the same dickhead who said we were coughing up a first rounder for Simpkin?Nope. Grandfather according to this

It does seem a stretch unless they had children in the 60s.Hmmm not so sure a marriage in the 1950s produced offspring capable of giving birth in 2001

I agree that it does seem like that would be a fair stretch, but I don't see how else it could have happened, as he apparently only had a son from the second marriage! It does seem a stretch unless they had children in the 60s.
It would be nice to know for sure who the parents are, Redman! I guess we'll find out one of these days.By '60's standards, could Jones and the missus have had a late start to parenthood?
And, in turn, passed that onto one of their daughters who could've been anywhere from 32-41* at Jack's birth?
*More commonplace in the 2020's.

I haven't been able to track down a death notice for Ray, which is a bit surprising and quite annoying, as that might have given us some decent clues. Ancestry has very little on him as well, with only one (very ordinary) tree, from what I've seen.
Yes thanks, I do know that, and had already read that article which the club released after he died. A newspaper death notice (from the family) is what I was hoping to find.![]()
