Just spitballing, is it lions tin foil hat territory that AhChee/adelaide are able to set a contract so its front loaded to avoid anyone else picking him in the PSD which means it kinda rules out Adelaide making a big play for Zac bailey (small ties to SA) next year because of cap space?
I think they can. They'll front load his contract so no one goes near him and then they'll restructure the deal after they get him.

Not sure who first mentioned it on here but i’m fully behind operation Jed Bews as a rookie option for one year. Good depth option and potential stop gap Starce replacement if other options/reshuffling aren’t effective
Answerth is the Starce replacement, and i think he will become an even better player then starce. You only have to look at how he was leading the defensive votes for our best and fairest with Payne to see how good he was playing before he got injured. Starce and Answerth are both elite, in the same way Payne and Andrews are.

Current PSD rule have a gap. They can put 2 years and 2 Mil to get Ah Chee to Adelaide, straight after PSD they can re-negotiate it to 5 years 4 million for example. This is not allowed in free agency but it seems you can do it in pre-season draft. Weird one but anyway.

Pretty sure teams aren’t allowed to restructure PSD contract terms.

but so can other clubs right? (Like West Coast or Port)?

Yeah I read about it somewhere in Ah Chee thread as well. Can't find anything in the Collective bargaining agreement 2023-2027.. I didn't have the energy to keep looking for it.

Ah Chee needs to agree to restructure the contract if that PSD gap is true. He may be happy to restructure with Adelaide but with West Coast he could ask for all the money without renegotiation. Bottom line is he'll get paid one way or another so he wins.

answerth is a bit of a question mark coming off the achilles. a big knock on him over the journey has been that hes made of glass, will he still have his pace coming off this injury?

it would be great if he could come back and take the starce role. my view of him as a player is he is arguably better than starce at locking down on an actual small forward (rankine, watson, hill) but is a worse matchup against a medium / resting mid like de goey or dangerfield.

I would encourage Lions supporters to vacate the Ah Chee thread on the D&T board, you’re arguing with imbeciles.

The funniest group are the Fr*o fans coming in to comment and you can just see the rage and anger dripping from each post.

"Oh, you lions fans are enjoying yourself are you??? Even when you have had so many rorts? Oh you are jokingly using the word rorts? MUST BE NICE!!!!!"

King Sn*ff excluded of course.

Yeah it's become too boring. Someone started Fagan racism line of discussion and that got me going yesterday. Once I listed Adelaide's racism side - the person disappeared. After that, it became a bit meh so I'm watching grand final re-runs now.
This bit was unnecessary as we are all watching re-runs. In fact I might watch the second half after tea tonight.

Won't be long before Eddie launches a class action against the Northern clubs for all of the rorts and illegal advantages they get gifted from the AFL.

Wait until all the northern clubs are in the prelim next year and the prelims are in Sydney and Brisbane.

I do think next years GF will be us v GC. Would make Ed's head explode.

To be clear, you CANNOT change or restructure the terms agreed upon when a player is selected in the PSD.

What has been done is undermarket extensions - so you're still getting your $1m a year for two years and that's your cap hit, but then you may sign the next three years for less to bring the overall contract total more inline with your original expectations.

Of course it's also when people lost their shit over when we signed Daniher to anything other than a top top top market extension, but I have to assume there probably won't any Crows fans getting upset because it was basically irrelevant to them given where they were finishing.

Rortported.

Yeah naa, it will be a pile on of clubs trying to catch Zacs eye, Crows are just 1 amongst 18 and there are way bigger war chests out there if that's what motivates him.

I doubt he would go to the crows tbh. I know there’s an SA link but seems like it’s us or a big Vic club. And I base this on absolutely nothing except the vibe

Yeah naa, if Tas gets up and he wants cash they can offer up to a 1m sign on BONUS. One more year contract with us and he's in that discussion. I think the November bill on the stadium will shape the future for many.

Ah Chee is a champion. A two time premiership star. If Adelaide disrespected him by not offering the bare minium of a first round draft pick then I hope it is understood that Brisbane honored his worth. I would love to see us offer him a plethora of contracts from 1-5 years, whatever it takes to get him over the line. He has a once in a lifetime opportunity to be a five time premiership player and be remembered as one of the games greatest players.
