Speculation Josh Weddle [OOC 2026] - Essendon offer huge contract

You have been taken out of the Butters race before it began, with your horrendous dealings regarding Merrett

A better ploy would have been to show the manager of both ZM and ZB that you can get deals done (hint it’s the same guy)

All you’ve done is act petulant and childish, so much so that your board vetoed the trade, making you the laughing stock of the AFL.

Weddle wont be going to the bombers, not for 2 mil a year, success over irrelevance
Was entirely up to Hawkes to get the deal done.

They ****ed it. Promised the world and didn't deliver. Tried to pretend pick 22 was a first round. Strategy backfired and all the other targets said no too.

The irony that had the Zach deal gone through we’d have less cap space to pay Josh as well as make the long term contract concept at the bombers somewhat less unpalatable, is absolutely delicious

Essendon say no, then Weddle sets his own price in the PSD and goes to Essendon leaving Hawks with nothing. Hawks fans again struggling to grasp the difference between a contracted player and an out of contract player.

Not that Weddle looks like leaving anyway, why would you want to leave the Hawks for Essendon right now if you're definite first 22 going into 2026 and looking primed for a flag tilt.
Are saying Essendon is coming last next year?

it is not illogical to speculate weddle may only pick one club to go to IF he wants to leave. Plenty of players do it.

If i were him i would be hedinging my bets like curnow did but ultimatley its up to him?

regardless the fact he doesn't have a contract, means he has all the power to do what he wants.
Yes he’d really have to covet Anzac Day. Your own captain wanted out ffs

Merrett had the money in his contract and still wanted to leave. So yeah not sure it means what you think it means.
Hawthorn offered him more money than what he's on. So yeah pretty sure it means what I think is means.

Source? Even if they did it was marginal so the point stands.
Even still, good luck tempting a young player over to your rabble, when your only commodity is , again, marginally more money.

Totally agree. Essendon set a reasonable asking price, we should all be shocked to be sitting here.

I reckon if you watch on draft night 1

That pick will get used in the first round 🤯

Asking for 4 first round picks, probably not chief

But at least you’ve set the asking price for Weddle at 8 firsts

Try and stay on topic and not use profanity, doesn’t indicate well

Nope. I'd say it's probably the same with most Hawthorn supporters.

It's Geelong #1. Competitive rivalry and a lot of history, especially in the last four decades. Two modern juggernauts.

Essendon is #2 and it's really just history. We couldn't be further apart as a club over the last 20+ years. One a modern day juggernaut, the other a laughing stock.

The AFL would agree as well. We only got to play against you once this season. Maybe we'll get two games in 2026 after what's happened which will be nice to pencil in 8 points.

Didn’t say ours was #1 for either of us. I’d say Carlton > hawks anyway.

Bu to say there isn’t a rivalry is just stupid.

This is a thread now dedicated to Essendon fans getting their swagger back. It’s like watching a grown-up learning to use chopsticks.

Wooden or plastic?

We all know the plastic ones are a ****in nightmare

Weddle is too good for Essendon.

One of about 780 players where this is true.

Congrats to all on 16 pages in a day. Lets see if we can get 16 more pages today. Tomorrow will be a story about how its okay that Brad still hasnt spoken to Zach and that Zach would rather train with North Melbourne than at his shit stain of a club. Like the sands through the hourglass.

But for today, I hope the AFL media camp outside where ever Weddle is to ask him the most important question of his career "Where do you want to be in 2027?"

20% increase is marginal? 😱

Is weddle better than Karl amon?

Wouldnt Josh be stuck behind Cox and Jones? Bombers are already stacked for quality tall wingmen.

this doesn't make any sense?

Or are you trolling blokes with injuries & severe concussion issues?
