We seem to be confusing a 'failed pick' with a 'reach'.

Tambling was rated top-5 by the entire industry, and even a potential #1. He was a failed pick, but not a reach. So if ANY other club had pick-5 and Tambling was available, every single one would have taken him.....and failed.

Every club has more 'failed' picks that successful ones in every draft. Because in vast majority of cases there are superior players taken AFTER any club's top-20 pick. So when a superstar is taken beyond pick-20, which happens almost every year, then almost every single club has 'faiied' as they overlooked them, potentially because

I would not expect any significant differences between the demands by Richmond and those of West Coast.

Tambling played 100 games for us, and had some very good ones. I think the changes in the game didn’t suit him and Richmond were very poor at player development.

His confidence was shot due to the constant media commentary and was very lucky to play as many games as he did for Richmond.

I'd take 5 and 15 for 3 if CDT is on the table. Would mean Robey is probably gone at 2, so leaves 4 and 5 for Grlj/Cummings/Taylor plus pick 15.

Hate to disappoint, Richmond would pick CDT ahead of Robey if they had a choice of the two.
If Robey was available at pick 3, I think we would dangle it infront of Melbourne who have a love affair with him for pick 7 & F1. With the Bombers if CDT was available we may offer that pick an they would give back Pick 5 & we would request them to source a pick in the teens, giving us a Sharp, Taylor, Grilj scenario.

All the talk atm is X.Taylor & Grilj, or a CDT / Patterson (if Suns don't want him).
If nothing pans out it may be safe bets in Sharp & Cummings only Blair knows and his ship is water tight !!

All that article tells me is Eagles really don't want CDT at pick 2 and Essendon must believe we will take him if Eagles don't.

Pick 5 or 6 plus a F1 is massive overkill. Essendon should wait and if CDT is available after pick 2 (why would Eagles actually pick him if they want to trade down) then come to us for pick 3. It might cost them less than what's been mentioned.

Essendon moving up still is a massive win for us, takes CDT off the table and takes the pick away from Eagles ahead of us to get the next best midfielder.

Essendon must also believe we aren't taking both Taylor & Grlj otherwise why would they bother trading up

I think Grlj would be a great addition to our team but I'm starting to lean towards Robey & Taylor as our 2 picks.

Personally I'd be happy with any of CDT, Sharp, Robey, Cumming, Grlj & Taylor. However don't think getting Robey & Sharp together or Taylor & Grlj together would be a smart idea.

Grlj really isn't that bad a player, not sure why you seem to think he is but hey your untitled to your opinion.

Maybe pick 4 is a reach for him but reckon if we were to slide back a few spots and got an extra pick he would be on our radar.
