Can’t wait for the next transfer window. More laughter at Chelsea’s expense. Imagine spending £1 billion in a short period of time and still being this shit.

It’s usually after results like this that the twitter bantz accounts have a field day, with the “value/spending of each squad” comparisons.

Qarabag were quite impressive this morning, their running and pressing was off the charts. So different to what we have to face in the Prem.

Though we should be beating them even with our B team full credit for them not rolling over, a teenager giving up two goals was a bit too much to claw back. Baku brought back some nice memories though.

What's the latest stage of the CL that 5 English teams have survived until? I'm too lazy to even look up how many years they've had 5 rather than 4 teams in it.
I felt energised after a sleep.

"It was in 2017/18 when Man Utd joined Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Spurs in the competition after United qualified by winning the Europa League the previous season, when they finished outside the Premier League's top four. All five English clubs went on to reach the knockout stage, making England the first ever country to have five teams in the competition's last 16."

5 from the same country have made the last 16 once. 5 have never made it to the quarter finals.

EPL is too strong. Too much money wasted on overseas players. Make them and others have more proper local players, and the competition will be a bit more even

They still don't win that many CL's though really.

In the PL era it's 7 to England, 5 to Italy, 4 to Germany, 2 to France, 1 to Portugal, 1 to Netherlands, then....14 to Spain.

I'm not that confident in 30 years that the English clubs will have overtaken Barcelona/Real Madrid.

English clubs are doing well in recent group phases but 10-15 years ago it was a different story.

Well SM didn't agree. I wonder what is next for Ange. It seems his name is mud in the UK. I really think he should put back into the local game, buy an Aleague club and appoint himself as manager, or perhaps a conference team in the UK. Or just become a commentator.

What on earth?

Your post that the EPL is too strong so it should harm itself was hilarious and had nothing to do with Ange.

What is meant was the EPL is kind of hurting the credibility of the Champions League as being anything other than a glorified super league.
I think the other European leagues might complain and do something to stop it.
Let's see if Forest get their act together, could well be a a Villa Forest Euripa League final, meaning probably 6 Champions league places again.
Not impossible for EPL to have 4 or 5 of the 8 qtr finalists.

Real Madrid being on 15 CL's and siphoning the majority of La Liga TV rights is more of a problem than England having a good coefficient.

Er, OK?

Chelsea v Barca seems like the pick of tonight's games. Barca like to play a high line which leaves room for wingers behind. But Maresca might opt to leave Estêvão and Garnacho on the bench.

Bayern Munich should be motivated to beat Arsenal after Thierry Henry said he has a "question mark" over players from the German Bundesliga, explaining that the league's open and stretched nature makes it easier to succeed, which may not translate to the more intense, space-constrained Premier League.
