Pretty much...Except you dont have your own gifted academy nor are likely to get 3 top 5 draft picks in a row while making grand finals. This thread is a glimmer of hope for all North fans

Brisbanes success formula is
Stacks of Top draft picks+ academy picks+ free agents + heaps of trades= success.
Let's get real.. Its more a formula titled kissed on the pecker as opposed to anything else
Not at all, we do the same.So most of your post is objecting to a club improving its list by using the draft, free agency and trades?
If those mechanisms are supposedly unfair… what other methods is a club supposed to use?
Does Geelong have some other secret way of getting players on their list without trades, drafting and free agency? Please enlighten us.

A list full of top picks, academy talent and quality trade ins is no suprise as a quality side. Its a recipe any club would take and turn into a premiership contender.
Bit of tongue and cheek for incredibly lucky on all fronts of aquisition pathways. Luck probably more in terms of academies and the recent F/S success. So when you described it as “kissed on the pecker”, what point were you trying to make?
We cannot afFord to get dragged into a slinging match on such an auspicious day, sir.Does Geelong have some other secret way of getting players on their list without trades, drafting and free agency? Please enlighten us.
I'm not sure he expected you to Cotton On to the subtleties of his sledge. So when you described it as “kissed on the pecker”, what point were you trying to make?
happens every year, I think there were posts from 2000 bumped after the Dees won in '21Takes a special level of petty to remember this thread 13 years on and think "I can't wait to bump it".
I love it![]()

They are also a different type of mess now. A mess the league needs to stop offering advantages too otherwise we’ll end up like the NRL and 5 flags in a row.The comparison is not apt.
Brissie is the nepo daughter of Steven Spielberg, who's daddy has bailed them out after a drug fueled bender with Crazy Vossie.
The Roos are the bastard son of the homeless rough sleeper you pass each morning on the way to work with their carboard sign begging for a few shekels. And even then you avoid making eye contact

I was referring to Brisbane, one of the Nepo babies.Darcy Tucker was a huge advantage to be fair.
Care to elaborate on the other advantages?
Bumped by someone who joined the year after the thread went dark...What a bump. This would get you 8 weeks nowadays.
...but if it was swallowed by time, that means its been in Time's digestive tract...so...how are we seeing it again?Kane Lucas… now there is a name swallowed by time.
Let's take a detailed analysis of Brisbane in recent years and in particular its lack of onfield success and drafting:
Many of the current issues relate back to 2009.
Brisbane released the following:
Bradd Dalziell
Pick 28 (Mitch Duncan)
Pick 44 (Matthew Dea)
Pick 39 (Sam Grimley)
Pick 60 (Jesse W Smith)
Lachie Henderson
Pick 12 (Kane Lucas)
Daniel Bradshaw
Joel Macdonald
Scott Harding
In return they got (including drafting):
Andrew Raines
Brent Staker
Aamon Buchanen
Pick 47 (Ryan Harwood)
Xavier Clarke
Brendan Fevola
Pick 27 (Callum Bartlett)
Mitchell Golby
Josh Dyson
Henderson, Duncan and Lucas are now all regular players in top 4 sides. Not one player drafted in 2009 could be regarded as an equivalent based on current form
But what about 2008's draft, the year before Voss?
Brisbane released the following:
Pick 93 (passed on in the draft and used to promote Scott Clouston from a rookie)
In return they got (including drafting):
Anthony Corrie
Daniel Rich
Todd Banfield
Aaron Cornelius
Bart McCulloch
Kieran King
Tom Rockliff
Daniel Murray
Instead of massive trading, they drafted what could be viewed as one A grader is Rockliff and a B+ in Rich. Banfield and Cornelius are the others that still play but are not anything special
However, most clubs would love to be able to get 4 players puching for starting positions out of every draft
There is some potential out of the 2010 draft, but again, noone in there that is a walk up start for the senior 22. They also lost Justin Sherman and Jarrod Brennan who were both in the starting line up
So who holds the can for the 2009 blunders?
The Board, the coach, the match committee, the recruiting staff ??????
Haha why didn’t you bring up our FSs GC? A real way we’ve been kissed on the pecker.Pretty much...Except you dont have your own gifted academy nor are likely to get 3 top 5 draft picks in a row while making grand finals.

Because everyone has access to father sons, so it is equality of opportunity and i am all for that. Its a merigo round and all will have their turn. Northern academies are exclusive advantages only provided to a select fewHaha why didn’t you bring up our FSs GC? A real way we’ve been kissed on the pecker.
Seems a little strange you wouldn’t mention the FS?? Any reason?
