Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

If you watch this news report about the Spirit of Tasmania debacle it really makes you wonder how on Earth they would be able to handle a project like the stadium? I suspect it is never going to happen.

Totally incompetent TAS government

The AFL fixturing our game against Sydney at the SCG first up would be the most ridiculous thing they could do. How many neutrals do they think would give a damn about Charlie playing in front of his new supporters against his former club?

That matchup at the MCG would generate the most interest.

The John Ralph article talks about “a potential rivalry brewing between Carlton and Sydney,” in terms of justifying two games between the sides. More manufactured nonsense by the AFL.

On a side note, the article also states Collingwood have said they won’t travel north for opening round to play GWS, but they are happy to stay in Melbourne to play St Kilda. Of course they are happy to watch four other sides play interstate while they run with the cushy home draw.

Narrative around Collingwood not traveling is nonsense. They do the same and do it very well over the course of the years with wins interstate and big support.

It’s every club’s wish to play Collingwood @ the MCG to boost their coffers - see STK proposing round 0.

The AFL is more interested in story arcs and media hype than actual football these days...

Such is the way of business...

I don't think the game location matters for TV ratings. They could play it in Darwin and it would draw millions.

And they'd pack out the SCG for sure. They probably would regardless of opponent, but there's definitely interest and enough local/traveling Carlton fans to more than cover any spare seats.

Sydney in Sydney has been part of Doug Nicholls round mid season for several years I would think that will continue. I've been to that about 8 times without seeing a win. There haven't been many home games against them so it will be good to see one now so Charlie can feel the wrath!! That and games against St Kilda are going to be epic!!

I was at the club this morning for a meeting.

- Harry Dean there training, in fact I saw him walking in, full carlton kit, carlton backpack with HD on it, and a suitcase which I'm guessing was full of footy gear to put in his locker?

- Highlight was Cottrell wearing a Sam Walsh t-shirt

Spare seats???

No chance, it will be a sellout weeks before. The Swans have a massive following up here, even more so now as they think the new Buddy has turned up. They remind me of it daily!

Anyone notice in the latest video of the campo boys wearing the new jumper that E Hollands name is still on the locker? Must've been after the trade period as Durdin's has been removed

He's still got a train on chance.

Easier to leave it on and then possibly remove later, rather than remove it and then add it back.

But also.... amazing sleuthing!

Pretty normal.
I'd expect WW still has his name on 38 too pending any train-on outcome.
Eg The jumper numbers for S Durdin & Matt Carroll weren't recycled whilst they were still in the mix last summer. Ultimately only one was retained so 38 was free for WW to get.
