Marc McGowan has us taking Thredgold.

Has a few other surprises - Dees taking Nairn, Pickett going to the Eagles, Schubert/Marsh/Phillipou all sliding to the 20s.

He has Essendon taking an SA quartet of Sharp/Cumming/Schubert/Barker.

Worth noting he didn’t factor in any pick swaps.
Surely a KPD is the last thing we need?

Picks valued at 16, 15 and 40 is SFA for pick 4. It’s not even a realistic trade. But it’s more realistic than posters who thought we’d have a chance getting 9 & 11 for our current and 2026 first.
A future first, 16, 48 and 55 for 9 and 11 might be Carlton's best option. But it might not be ours.

The future first for 9 (12 by time of trade) is pretty straight forward.

If Carlton hold 9 (12) and 11 (14), they end up with pick 19ish after a Dean bid at (7). If they value next year's draft better than this year's draft, it makes sense for them to trade 9 (12) out for our first next year, which might land at around 19 (after FAs and academy). Unless someone offers them a better future first.

But the only other teams supposedly offering a future first is St Kilda (and maybe Melbourne?) for pick 11 (14). But what idiot would offer a top 10 pick in a better draft for pick 15 (or even 13) in this draft? (Well, possibly St Kilda I guess, but that's on them)

Carlton would prefer to trade 9 to West Coast for 13 (16) and 34 (33) and trade 11 to us/ Saints/ Melbourne. But that 2-spot drop leaves us with no chance at Sharp, Grilj, Schubert or Farrow. So, it's not worth it for us and still not worth it for Saints/ Melbourne. And if we say no, the supposed trade with West Coast is out, because Carlton would be left with no pick before the likely Ison bid and no future first.

Our offer of 16 (19), 48 (41) and 55 (48) would be worth more points than 11 (14), and would get more valuable as more bids are paid for with picks before the Ison bid.

West Coast are apparently after Farrow, who would be gone by pick 11(14), so I doubt they compete with us for Carlton's second. Saints and Melbourne only have late picks this year, so won't compete with current picks either.

But we would be giving up 48, which likely becomes a mid to late 30's pick over the draft, and be left with one of the last picks of the night for our third pick. For me, the players who go between picks 14 and 20 are of a pretty similar quality. So I'm not sure trading our current first to Carlton's current second makes sense for us.

Trading for pick 9 and bundling up 48, 55 and 64 for a higher pick makes more sense for me.

We really don't know though how high Hamish and his crew rate player/s that they think maybe procurable if we trade up compared to players in next year's draft. You can be confident they are far better informed than any of us regards next year's crop of draftees. Getting a draftee we really rate highly this year also puts us a year ahead of the curve with our rebuild?

PLEASE don't POST the FULL ARTICLES about draft prospects and other football-related content. US MODS have had a chat and agreed it's against site rules and DON'T want to see them anymore, bye for now take CARE

Pardon the interruption, Richmond have supposedly said they want to trade back inthe draft and pick up an extra pick or 2 in next yrs draft. Richmond have 3 fatherson/academy kids that look to go around round 2 onwards and will want to take a couple of picks begore them next yr so will probably be happy with some form of trade with you guys. The ideal situation that probably solves most of this is richmond slide to 7 and melbourne 4, then we trade 7 to you for this yr and next yrs first. Probably gives you a decent chance at sharp or Cummings and I think probably a pick of any of the other SA boys left and richmond just take a slider (apparently Blair Hartley said the next 15 after the top 3 are pretty similar). Melbourne might be the ones you'd have to convince in this but feel like something like this may work for everyone?

I like this Chris Cavanagh media draft watcher's thoughts for us :), almost mirrors my thoughts regardless of where other draft watchers have players in their rankings. Although in his "Phantom draft" he has us trading up using our 2026 1st pick and taking Jevan Phillipou at #15 and Mitch Marsh at #18, Sharp to Essendon at #9 and Cumming to the Demons at #11

ADELAIDE

Draft Picks Pre-Trade Period: 15, 46, 53, 55, 71, 73

Draft Picks Post-Trade Period: 16, 48, 55, 64, 73, 75

Not much changed during the trade period for the Crows, who still hold a later first-round pick which will get pushed back until at least pick 20 on draft night after early father-son and academy bids are matched. In that range, the Crows should still have some good options available. Big-bodied Murray Bushrangers midfielder Riley Onley is the type of player you could picture running around in a Crows’ jumper next year. He’s a strong 194cm onballer who has long impacted games inside the contest but also showed this year he can have some impact on the outside. Damaging South Australian wingman Harley Barker, who suffered an ACL injury mid-year, could be another option at that first pick. If he was still on the board at Adelaide’s second selection, Onley’s Bushrangers teammate Liam Hetherton – a highly-rated 197cm forward who missed most of this year with a stress fracture in his back – would be another good fit. The Crows also have access to Gippsland Power midfielder Mitch Stevens as a father-son prospect, with his dad Mark having played 101 games for the Crows including featuring in the 1998 premiership.

JEVAN-PHILLIPOU.7c8e594.jpg

JEVAN PHILLIPOU

Pick traded 183cm Midfielder/Forward, Woodville-West Torrens

Drafted: ADELAIDE

We say: The Crows have discussed a trade with Carlton which would see them hand over a future first-round pick in exchange for Carlton’s pick 11 — which would land here. The Blues want to bank draft points to match a bid on top-two prospect Cody Walker next year, and this selection would be pushed back significantly anyway to match a bid on fellow father-son Harry Dean this year. Phillipou missed the under-18 national championships with a broken wrist but has attracted plenty of interest from clubs inside the top-20 and would suit the Crows. He is a driven, natural footballer with impressive athletic traits including his leap, burst speed and agility. Phillipou is dynamic through the midfield and can take a nice overhead mark and kick a goal when forward. If it is not the Crows who trade in for this pick, could it be St Kilda who does a similar deal? Ross Lyon wouldn’t mind another Phillipou at Moorabbin if Jevan was to join his brother Mattaes. The Saints play is unlikely, but it is not without a chance.

MITCH-MARSH.48af919.jpg

MITCH MARSH

191cm Forward, West Adelaide

Drafted: ADELAIDE

We say: Taylor Walker is going around again next year, but the Crows are pondering what life after the 35-year-old looks like. It is why Marsh is firmly in the picture — particularly if Adelaide does trade with Carlton and end up with two first-round picks this year. An athletic marking and lead-up forward, Marsh has been compared to Jeremy Cameron given his huge tank and willingness to work hard up the ground. When inside the forward 50 arc, he can take a big contested mark and is usually an accurate goalkicker. Marsh booted 12 majors across four games for South Australia at the under-18 national championships, including five in the final game against Vic Country. Rivals believe he would complement Riley Thilthorpe and Darcy Fogarty nicely into the future.
Interesting article, personally I would like to see us trade our future 1st for Carltons 11 this year, with the hope of getting Marsh at 11 and Onley at our 16, with Nairn, Rodriguez or BOB at our last if available. I see a lot of talk about Sharp, IMO he will get to the WCE or Essendon. Sharp will have a good career I think, however I sense his ceiling is limited. I am a huge Onley fan and players of his size and skillset don't grow on trees.
Please a hard No to Phillipou, he has made it public of his dislike of AFC. Yes he's a skilled prospect but do you really want to invest time into him, knowing he will move on?

One of Sharp, Cumming, Grlj, Farrow and Schubert will be available at Carlton's first pick (two if Code Sports' rumour of Melbourne taking Dovaston is true).

I'm not that high on Schubert, but the Club apparently is. On that basis, the deal looks worth doing.

Swap pick 17 to 19 next year (after FA and acadamy) for 13 this year and get a year into our recruit.
Not sure Cumming will be available at our first pick9, think he’s definitely selected by then…

Youd do it after and just pass on the remaining picks id think. But it wouldn't really affect how many players you take in the draft as they are already taking up a roster slot. It just changes how much of their base salary affects the cap. Are you talking about this in regards to moving some money around to fit in Ah Chee?

Hey guys,
Bit of a shameless plug here, but i just uploaded a video on my youtube channel in regards to Adelaide's draft hand and reasonable expectation of what and who the Adelaide crow's fans can expect to be available when the Crow's pick rolls around.
I also explored the option of trading for Carlton's pick 9 and another later pick trade with another club that would make sense for both parties. and why.
Please check it out and let me know what other options you think are available for Adelaide's list manager on draft night.
Channel is SotaramAFL.
thanks.
The proposed trade isn't 16 + F1 for pick 9/11.

I could be wrong but dont teams have to take 3 draft selections, but that can be lowered by upgrading a rookie instead? Considering it’s forecast there will only be 44-57 picks made wonder whether we have 2 aces planned for 48 and 55 let alone if either of those are used to move up? And would we better off having an empty rookie spot or rookieing someone who has been delisted by another club
