Draft Profile Who you don’t want? - 2025 AFL Draft Edition

We already have JVR, Kentfield and Jefferson as developing tall forwards. Schubert wouldn’t even get a proper game in the VFL for us (with Mihocek, Petty, Johnson also who we have as key tall forwards).

Also we just lost our 2 key midfielders in Petracca and Oliver so would be idiotic to draft a tall forward who may not even get a proper run in the 2s due to the pecking order ahead of him when we just lost the midfield depth we did.

Bar JVR all those forwards are old or complete spuds though.
That said the talls in this draft aren't great.

Bleddy well hope not. If we are trying to trade up, I really hope its for one of Sharp or Cumming (if there has been a feeling either slides hence us looking to trade up). Farrow would be good too as would Marsh.

A key forward that is not a great kick really does not excite me at all.
Hes a prettt damn good shot at goal

His kick looks awkward but for his size is pretty effective and solid for his height

42.26 this year

62% is nothing to sneeze out

Not sure who I want but Annable is probably a surplus player for the Lions

Probably, but it isn't like you have any needs anywhere, let alone anything that would be solved by the draft.

3 year contract, on base wage, while Neale is 33 and Bailey is a free agent. Give you a lot of flexibilty, even if he isn't the direct answer to either of those.

Dunks is about to turn 29, Mcluggage about to turn 28

You can never have too many quality mids. He will bide his time as a wing/HFF and the 23rd man

Fair I rate him but there’s too many midfielders in the 23 already and not sure he’s worth going into deficit for when we have OWEN next year
You guys have the points covered for him and will easily be able to find more

Unless its pick 1 then maybe that changed a bit, but wont happen

More likely to be 6 onwards

Don't want Farrow, hoping a team I don't like picks him up, but knowing sleepy mark and early picks, he's into him, any pick south of 30 sleepy mark might as well stay asleep, after pick 30 marks a genius, with 2 picks under 30, were screwed

We have drafted Josh Ward, Connor Macdonald, Josh Weddle, Nick Watson and Sam Butler with picks inside 30 over the past 4 drafts. All played a big part in our 2 finals victories.

Annable is a way better prospect than Owen, who isn't even considered our best academy prospect next year anyway. We won't go into deficit.

I don't think Mark has had free reign with most of those picks, I think Mitchell has had a say thankfully.

I'm fine with all the players that we're linked to except trading up for CDT. Happy for us to select him if he falls to our pick, but no trading up.

Any two of Robey, Sharp, Cumming and Taylor are a chance for us and I'd be happy with it.

Though we're not linked to Grlj, he is probably my pick though I think he will be a good player.

I'm just kind of not hyped for this draft in general. Apparently we're interested in some third tall forward types which feels very off kilter, Nairn is one whose place in the Dogs side I don't understand. We need back line reinforcement.
Your not really going to get an instant back fix here

Nairn will be picked that early with the end game of being a midfielder

Wouldnt surprise me if they even see him as a poor mans bont experiment

Nairn is arguably a better wing than a forward.

I get the feeling that one of our picks will be a running/general defender. I still like a Lindsay even though many others don't.
