I thought the same.

We trade up to get 9 and then they come for pick 2.

Wouldn't suprise me if they think this is palatable.
2 9 for 5 6
I read the news as Essendon going after pick 9 without us

He's not physically underdeveloped, he's a Duursma.

There high speed running are leagues apart. Only similars attribute is there agility in close.
Question was on highlights, last year Champion kicked some absolute pearlers in the champs and for subi seniors. Their highlights are poles apart.

I'm not that fussed on taking Williams TBH, if he lasts past 30 yeah.

Heard somewhere that CDT isn't really a Metro kid, apparently lives like an hour out from Melbourne or something.

In a draft that is looking more and more sh*t by the day, Duursma and CDT might actually be the best outcome.

He is from Woodend. A small close-knit community half way to Bendigo and next to hanging rock (as in picnic at hanging rock), also not far from Daylesford (amazing cider). Everyone knows everyone. His family runs a cafe at hanging rock.

Shit pick at Hanging Rock.

So you are saying he might go missing during the season?

Reckon we don't bid on Patterson
At this point we should just bid on all of them plus Annable. Don't see why we wouldn't unless we struck a deal with one of the teams. There is virtually zero risk of the bid being matched.

Wiliams i think will end up at WC ....just that he has worked in the shop / merchandise and rehabing a minor injury at the club atm .
Just reckon no other team will use a high pick ( top 20 ) on T Williams .
Well they might !! , still reckon he ends up at WC

Who do we need most in our team. CDT or Sharp ? We need to pick up Sharp and 2 more hard at it contested midfielders.
We've got enough tall forwards at the moment and a couple of those can be part time ruck men.
We also have enough small forwards as well.

We actually don't.

Tall forwards? Waterman.

Then who?

Shanahan looks great.

A Reid.....maybe.

And?

Worth noting that Carlton won't be interested in trading pick 9 to us for 13, 34, 41 etc unless they are actually concerned us or Richmond bid on Dean. If a bid comes later then the pick slide from 11 is actually better for them as they will likely get a pick before an Ison bid. Might be why Twomey doesn't think this trade will happen, possibly also why we are 'interested' in Dean with our pick.

We should 100 percent be bidding on the two GC boys and Dean from Carlton.

We tried to trade with GC but they were hell bent on Petracca so as far as I’m concerned let’s wipe out their future draft hand for a few years. They don’t have a first rounder next year so if they go into a large deficit then it’s going to carry over to the 2027 draft as well. Very little change of revenge from them for quite some time even if they wanted to.

As for the Blues, it’s nothing personal but it’s in our best interests to make those two picks disappear. I’d prefer to use the carrot and offer them an additional pick with the promise of bidding on the GC boys so no bid comes for Dean until 5 at the earliest and it would also be in their best interests to have a friend at the bottom of the ladder for next year as well with Walker on the horizon.

If they don’t like carrots then bring out the stick and bid on him, they will match and those picks with disappear which helps us as well.

They’ll be trying like crazy to get someone to bite with a decent points haul but no one is throwing hundreds of points their way to upgrade.

They just need to believe if they don’t trade with us we will do what’s in our best interests.

Watching Gettable and I get the very clear impression that Twomey doesn’t really have a great line of sight to what West Coast are planning

Beyond the obvious of Duursma and CDT being the one, two punch at the top of the draft which has been the widely held belief for weeks he doesn’t offer much else on West Coast. That we’re probably going to bid on Uwland at pick 2 and maybe Dean after that is about the extent of it.

Pretty much the rest of his comments around West Coast are things that aren’t going to happen - no offer from Essendon for pick 2, no deal likely with Carlton for pick 9, Farrow won’t get to our third pick

A lot of talk about the likes of Taylor, Robey, Cumming, Farrow, Grlj, Sharp being looked at by Richmond, Essendon and Melbourne but not a single peep about us even contemplating any of those players - surely our recruiters aren’t that blinkered to not even be talking to that group. Twomey would have us believe otherwise

Then absolute donuts on who we might be looking at with pick 13 - not a single player discussed in that range was linked to West Coast

Clubs with picks just before and after pick 13 were linked to the following:

Hawthorn- Lindsay, Farrow
GWS- Farrow, Marsh, Taylor, Pickett, Nairn, Ludowyke, Grlj
Bulldogs- Lindsay, Dovaston, Taylor
Adelaide- Marsh, Thredgold, Taylor, Barker
Geelong- Lindsay, Taylor

It’s almost as if he forgot we have that pick

But it was what he said about one player in particular that got me thinking - Cameron Nairn (the kid who kicked 7 goals for SA against WA)

Was mentioned as a possibility for Melbourne with one of their two picks with the suggestion that clubs who rate him highly haven’t been talking about him much on the basis they think he might slip through

There’s been next to no discussion on him around these parts, possibly because most rankings have him around the mid 20’s mark. He’s also more of a high half forward type rather than a midfielder so not an immediate need as such

But, his relative obscurity and the fact Twomey doesn’t seem to have any inkling on who our target with pick 13 might be led me to wonder if Massey has been quietly working away on Nairn in the background

Running capacity, leading patterns and versatility are among his strengths so would suit what McQualter is trying to build

On face value he would seem to be a reach at what is likely to be pick 16 or so but in light of Twomey’s comments perhaps he isn’t

This is his Rookie Me Central profile

Was talking him up big in other places. Last 4 games at u18 level averaged just shy of 25d, 3 goals in 4, 7.5m, 5t, 3cl, 4 i50
