Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

That certainly helps but again - there is 4 people being asked to train - if one of the other players took the first spot and it came down to Will or Elijah, Will is confident that he would beat Elijah because of Elijah's self inflicted damage caused by behavioural issues

Yep. I doubt we put HOF on the inactive list straight away, which is what we'd need to do if we take 3 picks and want 4 train ons.

Players signed onto the vfl list, dont need to occupy train on spots. They could still be competing for those open list spots, but we can use the train on slots for other players. Handy loophole.

I would think Essendon would be more likely to trade us points for one of our picks rather than an F1.

Technically yes but from the players perspective they're one of 6 for two spots if we did that

21 and 27 are a bit more points then pick 9 but it means your 11 will slide back into the 20s

i guess it all depends on what the blues are thinking you would still leave the draft with Dean and Ison however

One other possibility could be if we did something like:
Our 9+ 2027 F1 for Essendon 2026 F1 + 30

Risky for Bombers but with Walker and Cochrane off the board, they might be happy banking 2027 points for Bewick and getting another early pick this year.

Decent chance they'll have to trade out their 2026 1st next year anyway. Particularly if Merrett stays.

Although with all their 20s pick, Essendon probably have the currency to get another early pick this year without parting with their F1.

If we're trading 1 of the picks for points, I think it means we likely have another trade lined up for the other one for a 2026 F1.

Also, 21 + 27 are not worth more than 9 (or 11).

Ive heard that the Blues and Dons have a bit of a handshake deal that we wont both bid on F/S or NGA prospects currently could be bs but just passing it out there

Honestly mate I am only telling you what I heard from a close source and while yes it may just be a personal opinion - it is also a personal opinion from someone who has been at the club, knows the feeling inside the club towards Elijah and would know much more about Elijah's behaviour this year. Which IMO makes it a much more valuable "personal opinion" than the "personal opinion" you have expressed here

The source I spoke to specifically referenced Elijah's behaviour as reason for Will's confidence - but also did mention the likelihood of 2 spots being opened up and the fact that only 4 people were being asked to train over the summer (2 of which were from outside the club) does increase the chances of selection for both Will and Elijah.

One of those train ons is a key forward though, so that adds an element of intrigue.

There was also mention that VIC clubs have banded together and will bid hard on Northern Academy players as they feel as if the AFL has prioritized making more profit in those states and allowing the VIC teams fall further behind

For sure - not critiquing or overruling you at all, just adding what I think is some useful context for the reported views from the WW camp. There'd be plenty of people who were confident that they'd get a job over certain other applicants for perfectly valid reasons, but that's speaking on behalf of the applicant, not the employer. If we got word that Austin or Voss or Wright were leaning towards White I just think that would carry more weight insofar as what the end decision would be, because it would presumably be insight into the views of the actual decision makers.

White's not one I think is going to move the needle a whole lot either way, so if we opt for Lij or, hell, even some untried KPP, I'm gonna be fine with it. But he's a hard worker and definitely deserves more of a chance to make a go of it at AFL level, so if the opportunity doesn't present with us I really hope someone gives him a spot.

Both Paea and Phillips would be good gets as KPD's.

Dodo put in the bids on Jack and Ben Silvagni just as pro forma bids rather than any malice. That's why I've been saying that Essendon won't be bidding on Dean this year... because you don't need him and if we finished lower than Essendon in 27, we'd bid on Bewick if you bid on Dean. I can actually see you doing a bid on Ison though. He's exactly the sort of player you guys need on your list. But if there is a secret handshake deal on not bidding on our F/S or NGA players, that's a good thing

There were other VFL lads there too today - Flynn Riley still hanging around, and a blonde fella wearing 39 who looked like Taj Logan from our VFL side to me

If Will White is confident that he'll beat Lij to a rookie spot, that's awesome, good for him. It doesn't mean the decision makers feel the same way.

And as I said, the additional comments re: a second spot being available might actually colour it differently, that he believes the Lij decision won't matter and that he fancies his chances of getting one of two spots.

Again, not having a dip at you at all. Just musing on the news you've provided and filling in what I think are some relevant gaps pertinent to the discussion.
