Its more than scarifying, I assume and hope they ae doing an irrigation upgrade.
The whole complex does not scream elite standards. I know the complex is on its last legs as a whole, but we ae not exactly going to be moving into the new facility anytime soon either.
I understand the premise of why turf is scarified but I think its highly unlikely they would have scarified to the boundary and beyond, there is an irrigation issue at play as well.It will look dry and dead after scarifying. It's not a sign it is being neglected, it's the opposite.
Players would be at higher risk if they didn't do this.

Most ovals get scarified as soon as the winter season is finishedCalm down. It's normal for them to scarify the turf in spring.
It's looking pretty average, especially with how much rain we have had recently.View attachment 2480237

It’s being replaced with an athletic trackIt's looking pretty average, especially with how much rain we have had recently.
We are obviously looking for a hard deck around the boundary to assist with those impressive 2 km time trials when the lads get back from holiday.
We don't want that green spongy grass slowing our times down
Ive never seen it look this bad, again I am talking about the whole complex not just the turf surface.Pretty sure this gets brought up every year
I wouldnt have thought so.Ive never seen it look this bad, again I am talking about the whole complex not just the turf surface.
Must be a hard sell at the moment showing a potential recruit around the facilities and trying to sell them the dream
I wouldnt have thought so.
The dream isnt that far away.
Chairman John said we'll be in by October next year.Sounds like construction will be going on for some time yet, the second oval, which was originally going to be an MCG replica size is not happening because they dont have the area, its going to now be a replica Marvel size, but that is 5-6 years away.
Appears we are going to be moving from one building site to essentially the other due to the South Rd works.

Should be cherry ripe by the time we start training
They have a 2 month window which is ample time
Have they left it too late for some reason? Now stung because it's been unseasonally cold
The point was while we might be in there in October next year, it wont be the finished product. There are still years of construction ahead, a lot of which is due to the Main South Rd works preventing future stages of our build.Chairman John said we'll be in by October next year.
And any prospective recruit who cares too much about an MCG sized oval as part of a pitch has the wrong priorities.
Mountain out of molehill stuff here.
How so?What a bizarre take.
Its not years ahead, thats ridiculous. The point was while we might be in there in October next year, it wont be the finished product. There are still years of construction ahead, a lot of which is due to the Main South Rd works preventing future stages of our build.
The point about the size of the second oval wasnt about the recruits, it was that there are still issues and complexities being worked out for this project.

Also, Hawthorn won 4 flags out of Waverley..... or what was left of it. It means nothing
Sure you were.I was told this directly from a a club official on Monday.
How so?
You are competing to recruit someone to your club, are we really going to be showing them around West Lakes in its current form? The place is a soulless dump.
We have to sell them the future vision of what Thebarton will look like and then they need to see and believe the vision too, easier said than done.
Who mentioned anything about 2027.Why would we show any potential 2027 player West Lakes?
We are out of West Lakes after 2026.
Who mentioned anything about 2027.
Did we get Christian Petracca for instance out to West Lakes to have a chat? I bloody hope not.
I know we just have to put up with West Lakes for a little bit longer, my point is we should still be putting some effort into maintaining it so it actually looks like a professional sporting facility, not some rundown community facility.
Maybe they had to wait till the Crows' AFLW season was doneWeather potentially could have put it back the work, or the work was done at the normal time and weather has impacted recovery time.
Sure you were.
The guts of our facility will be done in time for pre season next year, thats been said by the chairman of the board.
Either way I think you're overexaggerating the effects this has on any recruit.
