Best small forward prospect since Rankine I reckon.would be a crazy outcome
No.Have we officially put HOF on the inactive list?
Rumours were around as early as April that Charlie wanted out, TDK leaving for a ridiculous contract was always on the cards from early in the season so Austin had at least 6 months to prepare for both these departures.Give us examples of players that Austin couldāve picked up for a reasonable price in the last 2 off seasons? Bear in mind weāve had a 2 time Coleman medallist in the forward line, and thought we had found our fix in the backline before he sooked it up and went to his dad at St Kilda

E H could. still get a rookie spot if he ticks off all the requirements that The Blues want him to prove ...IT'S MAKE OR BREAK FOR EH. .... I also hope he makes it back and doesn't look back because he is a rare Talent and a difference makerMight end up in the mid season draftonceif there's an injury.
Hey so with picking up three at the draft rather than two, does this mean that Elijah is done? What is our spot situation?
I'm also curious to know if it wasn't for Charlie leaving, who would have been on the table if we as a football club were already committed to taking Harry so early.

That's what I'm thinking. With Dean this year and needing the points for Walker next year how did list management expect to pull this off without Charlie wanting out? I believe we will have three top three picks three years running after Walker next year which is brilliant, but would we have been able to pull that off without Charlie leaving?1 spot for SPP. Not sure who gets the train on spots. Will know in next few days.
If Charlie didnt go we would probably have split 9 for points for Dean. Then hoped Ison slid enough to match with late picks or gone into a slight deficit. Might not have matched a late 1st bid.
Probably dont pick up Ainsworth. Definately dont get Hayward. Might have gotten Florent.
Would have been stuffed as far as matching an early Walker bid next year, particularly if they change the rules. Reliant on Walsh and/or Curnow leaving next year.
In hindsight we really needed Curnow gone.
sorry, but who is Paea when he's at home......?So 1 rookie spot left, and 1 SSP for HOF's LTI.
Elijah ... White ... Phillips ... Paea
Can't wait for the intra-club games.
Sam Paea, a VFL player for us in 2025sorry, but who is Paea when he's at home......?
Iāll ask again - who could we have picked up?Rumours were around as early as April that Charlie wanted out, TDK leaving for a ridiculous contract was always on the cards from early in the season so Austin had at least 6 months to prepare for both these departures.
Silvagni was later but by mid season still unsigned and meeting with other clubs it was obviously a chance he would leave, again because it happened so early we had plenty of time to prepare for it.
As for players at a reasonable price he could have targeted to replace them he liked Khamis so get the deal done. Maybe target Gruzewski who could play either end or Max Ramsden from the hawks who is a better player than Hudson Oākeffe their are plenty of cheap options choose one instead of loading up on slow small forwards who donāt kick goals or slow mids who lack the versatility to play a second position.
What we have done is left Weitering to be supported by Haynes a 34 year old undersized key defender who was very good last year, Oāffarrell a 19 year old who more than likely is out for the year with an acl, Dean an 18 year old draftee who at a well run club would be under no pressure to play senior football next year.
Then the likes of Young and McGovern both lucky to still be on an AFL list and Duffy an Irishman coming from a mile back.
At the other end end we have McKay supported by Oākeffe who averages half a goal a game at reserves level and Kemp coming off the most serious injury a footballer can get and in no way should be rushed back to play. We had to get someone.
Yeah, shortage of genuine talls may add credence to Ben King free agency suggestions. Bloody good player, somewhat under rated in Victoria. I am confident with what a combo of OāKeeffe and Kemp can add to Big H, with ācameosā from Moir and maybe Ison, but King is definitely class. It's been a great off season. The football department looks very different on and off field. It's what was needed
List now has run and better ball use
We lack talls. IMO we are at least two short. In a 'reset" year that is okay. Not ideal, but okay. I was hoping we would take a tall in draft BUT if we don't rate them then you don't do it. We obviously didn't
I believe we need to take Phillips as rookie or SSP. It's just a need
New coaching group will really need to adjust game style with this group. Run, carry, control ball, move to right spaces, hit targets must be focus. We also need to play a lot of youth. Many in 2nd or 3rd pre seasons and need to play
I am really looking forward to next season

The Collingwood era Wright presided over was always seemingly under supplied with talls, perhaps is a philosophy of his.
