To be fair both webbie/inglis are in pretty average form atm with the blade this season

Both are coming off injuries and both have had a slow start with the blade

Point I am making to the previous posters is that I don't see Webbie in the best six batters in the country and neither is inglis atm.....I see renners in the stop six batters as he has scored 3 tons in the past 5 shield games thats awesome for me something I have been screaming out for years from him

But as a pure batter only at six and if its between inglis/webbie its Inglis anyday for me over webbie

Yes that's my exact point. Not that Inglis is elite but that we would pick a genuine bat over an all-rounder. I was purely arguing that Inglis is clearly considered among those in line as pure bats, as per CA.

Not a go at Webster, but we don't need two all-rounders in a pink test - we need guys that can bat in the top 5.

One thing I have noticed watching India bowl just now is that the likes of Bumrah can maintain their pace for long periods. The English blokes lost pace notably in their second innings.

In 2006 Gilchrist was pretty much the only guy in cricket who would bat like that, the novelty value of it at the time is what makes that innings so memorable to me. I think we played our first T20 against England on that tour as well.

Wood and Archer don't have any stamina, but their short bowling plan is purely defensive. They take a bit of pace off and try to make run scoring high risk to sweat on errors. Clearly didn't work.
