Not ideal but the sky is hardly falling either. It does not really matter if he has a 70% pre season and just plays a solid block of VFL and a couple of AFL games at the back end of the season.

I mean Robey only playing a few AFL level games this year when we project to be bottom 6 would be objectively disappointing. Not the end of the world, but would expect more senior games than that from our top pick.

You would hope that pre draft medical would have picked this up. Then again if it was an Essendon doctor he could have presented with one leg and they would have passed him.

I would expect him to develop at the rate that suits him. If that is year 2 or 3 before he is a 20 game a season AFL player then so be it.

you would still pick him with known medical issue.

we don't have anyone like him.
had 3 early picks
worth the risk.
plus it may turn out to be very minor.

Could be a good sign that our new fitness staff are onto things earlier.

He played in a GF with some injuries so might be taking a recovery break from other issues too.

Tlak about going early.

His back is ****ed!
The kid has grown from 175 to 192cm in 2 years and still has some more room for growth. The back issues is just his body growing too fast for it to keep up. He's gone and done his first week in a professional space and the club has just slowed his program down a touch to account for the extra growth he may be going through. If anything its a good thing that were getting onto it early and hopefully preventing further injuries. If anything the reason why his back is ****ed is because he's carrying all our hopes and dreams on his shoulders!

Excuse intrusion.
Stress fractures are common in young men who have had high training loads. Usually with just 4-8 weeks of low intensity training (mainly walking / pool training) the problem corrects itself . Jonty Faul had the same issue for the Tigers at the start of the year and was back playing by mid year and contributing well.

Robey will most likely be back in training a couple of weeks after Xmas. He'll be good.

It was actually our scans we normally do for new players that picked up the issue and nothing he did in the week of training.
