Petracca was fat when he started. Greeves is a big unit for his age, but definitely not fat.
Big boned!

Ollie to my eyes has a very similar build to Cameron Ling (stocky, big boned) and Ling transformed himself from a tubby full forward into an endurance beast.
I don't think you can ever make yourself quicker but with application Ollie can certainly improve his endurance (how much will depend upon his genetics).
Ling wouldn't be a bad player for Ollie to model himself on, very similar players in a lot of ways (bigger midfielders with limited pace but who can also play full forward and kick goals).
For me it is the physical appearance, both Ollie and Ling are/were built like brick outhouses.I posted something similar somewhere after watching some vision. Ling was the first player that came to mind watching his highlights - that bigger/strong defensive runner. Considering Defense and Running are possibly his biggest weaknesses, I'm not sure what it was I (and you) saw!
Another comparison would be someone like Ned Long - the bigger/stronger onballer that lacks the speed required to become a top AFL midfielder - the difference being Ned has always had exceptional endurance.
NHH might be more explosive, but he ran the 2km time trial on the same day as Greeves, and was eight seconds slower…Curious as to why Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves also didn't get selected on draft night. Similarly highly touted like Greeves but overlooked on both nights.
Unlike Ollie, NHH can run. Did Cletus just get it all wrong?
Poor fella, Lingys not the doppelgänger you want. For me it is the physical appearance, both Ollie and Ling are/were built like brick outhouses.
Also Ling was a more than handy occasional full forward who knew how to kick a goal, he's similar to Ollie in that regard as well.
It's all going to come down to how quickly and how much Greeves can build his aerobic base. If he can get it to AFL standard he has enough other tricks in his toolbox to make a career (possibly a very good one).
From the neck down I meantPoor fella, Lingys not the doppelgänger you want.

Yep ..he gives massive Ling vibes...right down to the goofy grinI posted something similar somewhere after watching some vision. Ling was the first player that came to mind watching his highlights -
Yeah it sucks bigtime doesn’t it. Sensed something was missing in the draft summaries. How stupid.Bring back the players weights.
Thanks for saving me writing the same response. This is a silly and incorrect comparison. Clubs didn’t watch Newcombe play Coates league all year like they did Greeve’s.
It’s not that clubs didn't rate Newcombe, they simply didn’t know about him because the Gippy power didn’t even select him in their squad.
Not at all similar to Greeve’s situation or the level of scrutiny he received and how he was scouted.
And some Ollie extras.
Greeves and Frenchie observing.

Thing is Ollie is a natural footballer, has the highly skilled ability in close, in space by hand and foot. Has a good footy brain, decision making and his ability both in the guts and forward. There’s lots to like. He will need to develop his endurance, defensive running and probably slim down a little out of his “on-field concerns” but there’s more to like than not.I posted something similar somewhere after watching some vision. Ling also had an amazing endurance base and was a decent part time forward as well.Agree.
He's got Cameron Ling's gait, and Jonathan Brown's strut/versatility.
I have to say though, Greeves is much more talented than Ling, who's biggest attributes was his mental toughness and appetite for the contest.
I'm convinced he's a forward-cum-mid, not the other way around.
Agree.

Agree though that Greeves has some lovely skills for such a big lump of a lad.
Ling was an endurance monster though. It was his main attribute, just naturally came with a massive, massive tank.
Few guys will be able to develop that out of left field. It might have been more of a surprise back then because it wasn't really something guys were being drafted for.
I hope OG can get there. We need something out of the box from a selection like this to continue to develop our spread of top end talent.
The Newcombe development curve demands it.
Most draftees have been committed to the game for most of their teen years.
OG has been playing basketball at state level until last year, depriving him of the fitness development in his off-seasons, but giving him the many benefits of playing basketball (ball handling, vision in congestion etc).
We still don't know what his baseline is wrt running endurance, let alone his ceiling, although we can safely say he's not a natural endurance machine. But perhaps it's not going to remain much of an issue beyond his first 6 months when he is catching up to what a guy his size should be able to run like at his age.
Greeves looks really good as an u17 year, and probably a bit heavy as an u18.
I see him in a similar position to Jordan Lewis as a new draftee.
