Some cultish chic, somewhat hyperactive, screaming totally unintelligible words into the microphone. The rare word I could understand was usually putrid. now I am told they have won a grammy. What the actual fugg? Is there a grammy for screaming?
Didn't just win a Grammy. Had a free gig scheduled in Fed Square that was so popular it was cancelled because it was dangerous to the huge number of fans that turned up. So the band put $5k on the bar at 7 local pubs that support live music - their appearance fee. They are a great Australian rock band.

They should have been the opener for the AFLWGF. A much more appropriate band for the occasion.

Highlight of the post-match: Premiership player Eliza Shannon (🙂)after the photos were taken of the playing 21 and Crock with the cup, making a point to go and fetch the other 9 squad members in for a full squad photo with the cup. A touching moment from someone who gets the feeling of missing out more than most. It always takes a whole club to win these, but particularly this year, where we really had to use the depth (28 players used as opposed to 25 last year).

Pointless stat time.

This is the overall record (regular season and finals) of every club over the first 10 seasons of the AFLW. I've ranked the teams by points which is a little irrelevant because you don't get 4pts for a finals win, but I don't care.

Despite not playing in the first two seasons, we are 4th most successful team in terms of points and wins, but we are clearly the best team in terms of win percentage, we are more than 5% better than the next best, Melbourne.

We also have the best percentage which is a whopping 192.93% and nearly 40% better than the next best, Adelaide.

In the last two seasons:
  • We have gone from 16 wins behind Adelaide (57-41) to only 5.
  • We have gone from 15 wins behind Melbourne (56-41) to only 3.
  • We have gone from 13 wins behind Brisbane (54-41) to only 7.

The fact that only 6 teams have a win percentage over 50% and 5 have a percentage over 100% is a little disappointing, but hopefully the improvement by a few teams in 2025 is a positive sign for the coming seasons.

What a time to be alive.

Thanks to Crock, every player and all the support staff including doctors.

..............

NINE weeks ago, Alice O'Loughlin was lying in a hospital bed with a lacerated liver.

Now, the North Melbourne small forward is a two-time premiership player.

The season has ups and downs, it's long and you can suffer some hiccups like that, but it's just about persevering and just keeping on going. I'm super lucky to be out here and super proud," O'Loughlin told AFL.com.au.

"Those moments make you feel super grateful for your health and [wellbeing] and being able to come out here and play. I didn't know what was going to happen, but I'm super proud to be out here.

"There were [a few scary moments]. But we've got great staff, the two docs looked after me."

FREE - the most powerful word in the English language. Eddie Maguire reading Shakespeare would fill Fed Square if it was free. Worked in the media long enough to know when you say it is free people will literally knock each over to get to you.

Oops I did it again - meant some cutish chic.

Getting there is one thing because people arrive over a span of time. It's getting a bloody tram back to the city late at night that's a problem. Bad enough for adult men but I suspect that a lot of women would not want to be travelling alone or in small groups, let alone young girls or families with young children.

Only Docklands stadium makes sense.
AFL were donkeys for not using Marvel if it was available. Otherwise they're not serious about promoting and supporting the code

I noticed when watching the replay, that Riddell kicked her minor score with 4 seconds left on the clock shown on the FOX Sports coverage. It doesn't matter now, but it looked like the ball actually crossed the line before the siren sounded.

Would it, though, in fairness?

It just absolutely rules the way this team makes me feel.

We’ve eaten so much shit as supporters for a long time and now one of the greatest teams in any sport in history has come along like a present to make it up to us. And it’s filled with the most humble, likeable, awe-inspiring people going around.

I stood on the ground for ages after the ceremony with a big dumb grin on my face just watching everyone celebrate and feeling so proud of them all. It’s a special thing they’ve achieved and to feel in any way a part of it is such an honour.

Sheerin really is the crowning glory in the incremental building of the list right from the start.

Just in the last four seasons:
2022 (S6): We lose some key planks of the forward line and some outside run and rebound players to expansion teams. We replace with improvements (O’Shea, Wall, Gatt).

2022 (S7): We are all over Melbourne in the third quarter of the PF, but can’t convert the dominance into any goals, they kick away in the last. We go out and get Shierlaw.

2023: Davidson is the different in the GF for Brisbane. We go out and get Birch.

2024: No real glaring weakness being undefeated premiers, but we’re able to top it all off with the versatility, strength and experience of Sheerin.

All credit to Gowans, Crocker, Rhys Harwood and Flynn Loft (and others).

Was certainly kicked before the siren and even if touched by the bears player, it would count as a rushed behind. Bad call by the umpires to disallow it.

Is there a grammy for screaming?
Slipknot has won a Grammy and they have(had?) a campaigner that literally plays a bin…

This team will be hard to beat next year, have Mia king, Bresnehan to come back in, and also I think an Irish girl who took this year off ( I think). Probably only lose Shierlaw, am assuming given her age. Going to be stacked again.
Go Roos
