Spot on. Eight bowlers were used yesterday and the only stand outs across 66 overs were quicks Charlie Anderson and Campbell Thompson with both unlucky not to snare more Pommies on an easy batting deck, even after dusk. That pair plus Kellaway and Peake the only players with an international future imho. McSweeney I see as a future captain.

Dont see it as that. I have named four players that will disagree with you too.

More than rumors I'd say. Bartlett and Richardson should be next Test cabs off the rank, tho I think young Charlie Anderson will come into the conversation as the like for like seamer to replace Josh Hazlewood. Dont think only Murphy or Kuhnemann will battle it out to be our next spinner either, reckon Corey Rocco will have something to say too.
Am I going crazy or have they not announced the squad for that Australia A game at all? Feels odd that they haven’t put anything out about the squad when we’re a few days away from it starting.

If they’re choosing a full strength Aus A side, then we’re guessing the likes of Renshaw, Kellaway, McSweeny etc make up the lineup?

I thought they had announced it? From memory Kellaway and Bartlett were in there. I’ll see if I can find it

No official announcement but Dan Cherney tweeted this a few days ago.

Maybe they’ll play Jacks and Bashir? That would be err, well, great
At the end of the day, they're probably backing Carse, Stokes, Archer and Atkinson to bowl us out. Playing the extra bat is a smart move IMO, something we should consider with Webster/Carey at 7/8 and playing the 3 bowlers, whomever they be.

I’m not sure throwing Bashir or Jack to the wolves 1-nil down is a great idea. Strengthening your batting with bits and pieces players generally means you don’t trust your bowling or batting - see England in the 90’s

Jacks I think is playing as a bat, not as a bit part.

He’s a middle order bat who bowls a bit of spin, therefore Eng will bat him at 8 and give him 30 overs at least.

Difference between eng and aus is that when the convicts call up one of these types he ends up being Steve Smith. However good your Scott borthwicks might have ended up the ecb would still pigeonhole them as frontline spinners.

I have a lot of hope for Rehan Ahmed maturing into a test quality batsman. If he kicks on let’s see if the ecb gives him a run in the middle order or picks him as the spare for a couple of Asian tours.

If the balls go soft as has been indicated they’re going to need someone to slow it up. Jacks offers a bit with the stick.

For sure, its why I’d definitely want Webster in if we go without Lyon

Does he have the control and temperament to perform that role though? I’m not so sure.

The Jacks pick smacks of them wheeling out Borthwick back in 2013-14. Surprisingly conservative move from the cult leadership.
I guess its to stiffen the batting. Where is Mason Crane?

Quick question for anyone who can be bothered answering.

I'll be in Q21, Row P (Level 4, Shane Warne Stand) on Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test with my daughter.

Are we likely to get much sun?

Yeah. Bring sunnies and sunscreen, reapply at lunch and tea
