What a hectic ending to those two matches, I switched over with City cruising at 5-2 to then watch Newcastle and Spurs at 0-0. Turned it off and it all happens. Spurs have done extremely well to salvage a point so deep into injury time.

It seemed to bobble and bounce in slow motion as it struck his shin, not his laces. Defenders and keeper didn’t react quick enough to clear it.

Maybe the defenders were frozen shocked that a defender would try to score in that way.

I read that was Gordon’s first premier league goal since January. It feels like he’s a more regular scorer, but there you go. Quirky stat.

He has 4 goals and 1 assist in 5 games in the Champions League (1g v Barca, 2g v Union SG, 1g 1a v Benfica) so he is scoring its just not in the Prem and it just feels like he is.

After that goal last season he got an assist, had a 4 game spell before missing 2 games with a red and picking up an injury which clearly hampered his end of the season (last 8 games of the season only played 50+ minutes twice, his first 5 games post injury played over 30 mins once).
And this season he has one match where he played 90mins, got sent off at HT, then missed 3 games with that red, then missed 2 more games injured.

He has been very inconsistent since about January.

I love Timber and think he has been one of the best RBs in the league for a while but where he lacks is what White is excellent at, which is timing those overlap runs perfectly to either open up space or in this case put in a perfect ball for Merino.
