The interview Riley Beveridge had with Phil Harper on the trade deadline show was a train wreck.

Beveridge: I bet you're glad to have lost Prowse
Harper: We aren't pleased to have lost her...

Yeah that was embarrassing stuff

So with Hatchard, Prowse, Boileau and SLT all gone from the side next year, we will need four replacements to come in. It's not like we had lots of quality players sitting out of the side. Egan should be one. Presumably Mueller will also become a mainstay now, although she did play more than half the season anyway.

Interesting question whether we use our strong draft hand to target the best available youth, or try to bring in some experienced players who are ready to go in 2026?

I can understand letting Hatchy go if we think our window is closing, but losing young talent hurts (especially when you're not getting premium returns).

Egan looks solid, but with some deficiencies.

I think we've got a few years of pain incoming.

I'm not convinced.

The big loss is Prowse, who will be difficult to replace.

I don't think the gap between Hatchard and Egan will be all that large comparing 2025 output. Hatchard's best days as a midfielder are over.

Boileau was a role player for us and we should improve by replacing her with pick 4 in the side. We're also getting two first round picks on top of that to strengthen our talent and role playing spots. And Gold Coast's high future 1st.

I think it's the right move and I wouldn't be surprised to see us perform around the same mark next year, while improving our squad for the future. Four first round picks including two very high ones is excellent for our talent and will leave us in a stronger position IMO

I hope you're right. I think a lot of it will come down to the coaching change and gameplan.

My concern is that we haven't added any zip or ball use off half back, or midfield class where we were clearly deficient.

I think Prowse is a great player, but we can probably go forward with just Biddell and Allan down back as KPD.

No deal reached for former #1 pick Weston-Turner, she's off to the draft... ouch.

It is an interesting one, given she said she was going into the draft if they couldn't do a trade. I do not think it helps the dog's list management to get nothing.

I don't like how players/managers can manipulate the draft, they will basically withhold medical information and not really talk to anyone else and it becomes a massive risk for clubs to take the player. I don't think that is good for the game.

Can anyone explain why we did this trade?

Makes no sense to me, especially if we are looking for picks at the top end of the draft in mini rebuild

Adelaide Crows receive:
a second-round pick (currently No.21) and a third-round pick (currently No.39)

GWS receives:
a 2026 first-round pick (tied to Adelaide)

Helped with the Hatchard trade to secure Gold Coast's high picks

If we ignore picks in the 30s then we gave up 14, F1, Hatchard for 4 and F1 (GC).

We'd better hope our 2026 performances is ateast equal to this year despite a few key players leaving.

GC were wooden spooners this year. There is potential for this to be a win. If they finish bottom 4 next year that's a serious pick. If they rise up the ladder, or if we plummet, it's a bit of a bust.
