Should've been Liam Dawson really. A bit more defensive but someone who could consistently hold down an end and let the seamers rotate would hardly have been bad for us.

Potentially/probably

Just a bit weird what they’ve done with the spinners the past few years. Went with Bashir early because they saw something with him (which is fine). Just kept on backing him in completely when he was struggling for form, sort of refusing to give anyone else a chance because he was their guy and they had confidence in him. Then on the eve of the Ashes, with no real alternatives they decide he is unplayable and they throw Jacks to the wolves. All just a bit weird

That is the most toothless final 2 overs of a day with a new ball. Jofra rolling his arm over and a fairly gentle Stokes bowling at the other end with no fielders around the bat or any venom in their deliveries.
