Unless he's unfit or injured there's no way I'd be dropping Starc. Instrumental in the first two tests. 3 wickets in the second innings in the 3rd, on top of a vital 50 in the first innings. He's our 4th highest scoring batsman in the series so far as well. No way you repay his contributions with deselection just because he didn't snare a scalp in one innings. The fact you can't decide who should replace him tops it off really.

No one wants to DROP Starc, hes about to turn 36 ffs why make him do 4 tests back to back and risk an injury in a dead rubber?

LOL? **** me he made 2 tons in the Shield before that. Do campaigners on here challenge goldfish to memory contests sometimes
And it's stupid that some entirely dismiss T20 form when considering someone for Test selection. Obviously FC runs should be a prerequisite, but if someone has the FC runs and is seeing them well in the BBL, that should help their cause.

No one wants to DROP Starc,

You can use whatever adjective you like. If he wants to play and is fit you do not drop, deselect, or rest the player of the series.

hes about to turn 36 ffs

True. 35 now and 36 in just under 6 weeks time but I think he's still got a few good years in him yet. How old was Anderson when he retired? 41?

why make him do 4 tests back to back and risk an injury in a dead rubber?

Apart from Brisbane, he hasn't bowled that many overs really. I thought he was underbowled in the first innings in this game.

Rocc deserves a shot with Lyon out. 58 wickets in the last two seasons @ 28.
He's an interesting one. Certainly has the knack of taking wickets. Punter is pushing for Kuhnemann (Tassie) because he's a left armer, but he's hardly played any cricket this season. Lyons wasn't a leftie so I'm not sure why that's an issue. I've never known what to make of Tom Murphy.

Did but they have decided on Weatherald. Would he have been my pick no but purely on partnerships they have done well. Doubt they change before end of series and on no planet should Renshaw be near a middle order again

Smith for Inglis
Webster for Lyon
Jhye/Neser for Cummins

Now we’ve won the series I’d take a calculated punt and play Jyhe
Was hearing on the ABC, plus from Cummins himself, that they may save for for tours after this series. He didn't say for sure but alluded to the possibility. Meaning Richardson will come in for him next Test. Kuhnemann probably for Lyon, may be Murphy. Hopefully Webster for Green, surely that's a must. I'd have Renshaw for Marnus too but won't happen. Marnus was terrible on such a flat wicket. Smith for Inglis of course.

One thing we found, don't give your wicket away easily. Even Head's brilliant 170 but you never know giving your wicket away if it starts a collapse. We lost 6/38, missed a 500 lead and gave ourselves a fright.

Cooper Connolly for Lyon.

C'mon, we all know it makes sense.

No it doesn’t. Look Cooper has been okay in Shield but that’s it this year. Needs a year at least he’s in the mix but in 12 months not now same with Konstas

Exactly how I read the interview at best he’s playing 1 of the next two Cummins. No need to risk now we’ve won.

Why rest Starc unless he is injured

Just glad to win
It'll probably be left up to him anyway and fair enough. 89 overs bowled and the amount of time he's spent batting is a pretty huge workload for a 36-year-old, and with Cummins returning from injury, I'd hate for him to get injured, or be underbowled because we're worried about cooking him.

Lyon, Green, Head and Labuschagne being our first bowlers used today suggested to me that they were trying to protect the frontline pace bowlers before we got the new ball. Probably a bit of that in the first innings too, particularly with the heat.

Bring Renshaw in but for Marnus for me. Have him bat no.3. Marnus has not be great at all this series and looked awful outside the off stump on a very flat wicket. Think Weatherald will end up decent.
