I agree greenie is in terrible form and is not achieving what he should be but as Luke pointed out above Webbie is also not in fantastic form and hasn't really shown overwhelming performances this season to say "pick me" thats why webbie is currently out of the team.

Bingo. Don't think for once I've said Green has been amazing, but I'm far from convinced on form Webster will be any better with the bat let alone the ball, he's been poor against lesser bowlers in Shield. That's just reality, yes only been 2 matches, but when you are out of the side you have to make it count

Damien Martyn was a good batsman. But rating him in Australia's top 15 batsmen is ridiculous. He wouldn't make the top 30.

He easily would be in our top 20-25 at absolute worst.

We are 3-0 up in-spite of him not because of him.

And yea that no innings was fantastic, he’s also played over 30 test matches which is far too many to be putting any weight in to one innings

Also I’m sorry but if you think that India pitch was anything but a highway you clearly forgot about that test.

He was given a chance and failed, Webster without a doubt deserves another shot over him.
Already 2 forced changes, I doubt we'd be making more than that, would we?

That 2-3 sample size needed to be belting the door down not failing every innings. Green was the incumbent who only missed due to injury, that's the way this team has always been picked. Green was on bowling rations in Shield and still bowled well. He is a point of difference and it's why they will keep picking him. Webster needed to do what McSweeney did in the A game to force their hand, you may not like it but that's just reality. Green may be in average nick but still has a higher score this summer. They may play both anyway with Webster replacing Lyon and batting 8.
He wasn’t the incumbent he has spent the majority of the past 24 months injured or at 3-4. Webster was, they went with green who failed again.

We were wandering how DRS would have worked out for Warne. It's really obvious now when they take the piss with a massive appeal and then refuse DRS and there's no denying that Warnie was intimidating, and would used his reputation to his advantage when he appealed.
Would have probably 100 less wickets, but would probably have a few centuries to his name

He easily would be in our top 20-25 at absolute worst.
You can't just go by average or aggregate. You have to consider how good players were relative to their contemporaries in the Australian team and in the teams we faced. Obviously a hard task comparing eras but going down the list of Australian bats by test runs scored I rank this lot clearly better.

Ponting
Border
S Waugh
Smith
Clarke
Hayden
Langer
Taylor
Boon
G Chappell

Bradman
Hussey
Harvey
Gilchrist
Walters
I Chappell
Lawry
Simpson
Labuschagne
Jones

Morris
Hill
Trumper
Hassett
Armstrong
McCabe
Bardsley
Woodfull
Macartney
Ponsford

Theres 30 even without some like M Waugh, Billy Murdoch, Brown, Fingleton, Miller who you could debate are on a similar level to Martyn.

Hotspot is unreliable
Unreliable as a sole reference point, but I don't understand why third umpires always focus on 1 thing, when they use Snicko they exclusively look at snicko and ignore the vision. When they used to use hotspot, they would do the same, "no hotspot" despite there being a noise or a deviation on video. Use all three, balance the evidence and make a conclusion.

I can't speak to many of the old timers in the last box, but you think Labuschagne is clearly better than Martyn? I don't think so.

Webster was only a fill in for injury. Wouldn’t have played if Cam was fit. Green is first choice that simple. You want to get rid of the first choice you had to smash the door down and Webster hasn’t been in great form himself this year. Make any excuse you want with the shield matches for Tasmania and the Aus A others scored runs with McSweeney showing the way he’s the one smashing the door down and is ultra close

You aren’t the incumbent when you haven’t played the role for an extended period, he also was moved around in part because he didn’t nail down the number 6.

He also has sucked, you don’t get to keep the spot if you are in straight horrendous form.

If you aren’t going to drop him now you never will.
