You are touching on what I’m sort of saying. There is no problem with criticism and ultimately it depends what they intend it to be. If simply a training facility it is excellent. If they plan large scale events less so but as an exception it was fine yesterday. To play games there seems totally untenable as things stand.
Understand what you are saying and there is clear merit, but I also think there are greater problems than foreseen. Will be an interesting watch on how it develops, but it certainly has the foundation to be great for training and fan engagement, I just doubt it can become a genuine aflw venue but let’s see.You are touching on what I’m sort of saying.
KCC is ultimately a training venue & home base for HFC.
It’s been opened up as soon as possible for the players to start training but as yet not complete.
Priority 1 was to have the club move in.
Further down that list but clearly not far down was to have fans able to attend & a plan on how that could work. Ie; buses
Lower down that list is building a carpark big enough to cater for these events.
Just as the landscaping/tree planting will no doubt be done soon.
Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Some people are complaining (I don’t mean just here on bigfooty) that there’s no parking.
I’m saying, the club pre-warned us & put that out there for everyone.
So for the time being just accept that & wait until the venue is complete
Well said. Spoilt lot. We almost expect an MCG equivalent. We have the land and so over time this will become a whole lot more accomodating in terms of luxuries. You are touching on what I’m sort of saying.

There area about 70 car parks in the staff carpack behind the Main building.Well said. Spoilt lot. We almost expect an MCG equivalent. We have the land and so over time this will become a whole lot more accomodating in terms of luxuries.
At the moment, even if there were 500 car spaces there would still be some complaints![]()
Disability parking was available for people with a disability sticker but yeah the club probably could have mentioned it better on the events page so you didnt need to call upThere area about 70 car parks in the staff carpack behind the Main building.
Roughly 200 on the main road behind the Community Pavilion.
And about 240 to the left of the roundabout.
So there are 500 car spaces available and people are complaining.
I understand how with Tootal Rd not being upgraded and proper ground work not done on the surrounding areas that the open training operate like this for now. But long term the expectation should be for parking on site, there is more than enough space south of the AFLW oval and West of the Main training oval for overflow parking.
1 thing that was an issue that I noticed a fan on Facebook mentioning that they were unable to contact the club to learn about disabled parking availability nor was the information offered. The clubs should have offered parking on site for disability placard holders and included that in the announcement.
Not only so they didn't need to call up, but also have the phone be answered when people did call up.Disability parking was available for people with a disability sticker but yeah the club probably could have mentioned it better on the events page so you didnt need to call up
I am gotta check my local shopping centre next time I am there to see if has 500 spotsThere area about 70 car parks in the staff carpack behind the Main building.

I think a lot of this issue is on City of Kingston not on Hawthorn FC. I am almost certain that the surrounding grassland (on Hawthorn FC land at KCC) would be the clubs plan for large events. Just like the MCG carpark or like what StKilda used to do on what is now the dog park. I think Kingston didn't want all the traffic down Tootal rd into 1 driveway so probably stated no onsite parking when issuing the permit for the event.I am gotta check my local shopping centre next time I am there to see if has 500 spots
Ideally, how many would be enough (to sit around unoccupied for 90+% of the time).
Let’s not compare it to Waverley parking
Let’s just have confidence in this administration knowing what they are doing, having delivered it for $100m is good going
Given time and feedback, it will evolve and improve
Yes I am guessing there would be some restrictions imposed on the club at present to do with a lack of traffic management.I think a lot of this issue is on City of Kingston not on Hawthorn FC. Which is funny as on Sunday they had their Carols by Kingston event and they advertised it as "Free parking available on-site" and it was an absolute shit show of people parked on footpaths, double-parking in cricket club, all side streets with driveways blocked etc.. I didn't see a single staff member directing traffic to car parks.
Is that what I’ve been doing wrong all of these years? You know you're allowed to change trains right?
It's a forgotten art!Is that what I’ve been doing wrong all of these years?
this video should satisfy everybody who wants to see inside! 40 straight minutes

From the AGM tonight:
Glenferrie Oval
Working with the Council to have some sort of display as part of the upgrade
KCC
Scoreboards have gone up today on both ovals, will allow the club to stop training and watch vision of drills ect...
History will go up on the walls in the corridors
Seating will go up behind the goals over the next couple of months that will allow you to grab a coffee, sit down and watch training
Parking will be available for the family day in February but will be limited so the club will still allow overflow parking
Club are working with the caterers to get a liquor license for the venue
Grass mound being built on far side of the aflw oval
Hopeful and working with the AFL to host atleast some AFLW games on the community oval but that was part of the reason the afl gave funding to the KCC
Stage 2
Working with the council on stage 2 that they are looking to include: an high ball centre for basketball, netball and volleyball that will include a bigger cafe, Medical screening facilities
Get some apartments and a grocery store and it’s a 15 minute city.My source has told me stage 2 will be in 2 parts.
Stage 2a will be the medical facilities. 2b will be the basketball courts

A restaurant would be niceGet some apartments and a grocery store and it’s a 15 minute city.![]()
Like some sort of 'social club'?A restaurant would be nice

It'd be lovely. There is no passing traffic. It is in the middle of nowhere. You'd be lucky to break even with a vending machine.A restaurant would be nice
Something like a Leagues club. Tough without pokiesIt'd be lovely. There is no passing traffic. It is in the middle of nowhere. You'd be lucky to break even with a vending machine.
Stage 2 offers some hope. Narrandjeri Stadium in Thornbury would be a pretty good model. That took 20 months to build and opened in 2022 at a cost of $35M. The hope is one day this stadium will contribute positively to Councl's bottom line.
The running costs for Dingley will not be insignificant. I don't believe we will take on another liability in the short term.
No current season stats available
Was it for the match worn because tbf she would have technically been right? Was flabbergasted today whilst in the Hawks Nest shop at KCC the lady behind the counter, when asked by another customer, who wore number 5, she had to google it and was surprised to learn that James Worpel had in fact been traded to Geelong and he used to wear it, but Nick Watson wears it now.
Could not believe my ears. She genuinely had no clue Worps was now at Geelong.
I assumed all staff would be nuffies like the rest of us but obviously not. Was a bad look in my opinion…

The Hawks Nest staff work for Playbill, the company responsible for the merchandise stores of several AFL clubs. They are not necessarily one of us.Was flabbergasted today whilst in the Hawks Nest shop at KCC the lady behind the counter, when asked by another customer, who wore number 5, she had to google it and was surprised to learn that James Worpel had in fact been traded to Geelong and he used to wear it, but Nick Watson wears it now.
