If we’re genuinely fearful for our own safety, we’ve chosen the wrong side.

Electing a rapist pedo as president openly taking others oil is confirmation this empire is dying.

If we’re smart, get every American military personnel out, rip up AUKUS, and start currying favour with nations who will be able to guarantee our security.

At the moment we’re alligned with a state, and it will be open season on them within 20 years.

Yeah there's need to be a new coalition really. Dissolve/boot the US out of NATO and invite Australia, NZ, Japan etc in.

Yeah they had a little thing called the School of the Americas where they trained these fascist pricks. Kind of like how they helped set up and train the SAVAK under the Shah in Iran after overthrowing their democratically elected leader in the 50s. And the rest....

These things look to be true:

a) It's about oil.
b) Maduro is a bad, bad person and nobody is sad to see him go.
c) The US doesn't care about Venezuelans - they demonise and attack them.
d) This is an act of war which is illegal in all sorts of ways.
Yeah nothing bad could come of this right? Not like there's any recent examples of a horrible outcome when US "regime change" has led to a power vacuum.

Donald Trump has insisted that the US military presence in Syria is “only for the oil”, contradicting his own officials who have insisted that the remaining forces were there to fight Isis.

That would show how incredibly dumb Orange Mussolini is if he truly believes that:

Syria has just 0.5% of world oil reserves, ranked 32 in the world:

Granted it is high quality sweet crude stuff however getting it out of Syria is a massive headache and then having to ship it over to the US. One would think Orange Mussolini would be more willing to capitalise on the nearly 120 billion barrels of untapped oil locked up in US federal land / undersea reserves first.

Anyone who thinks Trump is behind taking over Venezuela needs their head read. This has been on the cards for over a decade.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they told trump after they done it.

Maybe Trump ordered it and forgot he ordered it to happen.

School of the America's is still there.

Its known as WHINSEC - Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation.

Its not invasion if the government invites them in. You are missing the invading part of the invasion.

An invasion doesnt have to be violent…. You are missing the point about being taken over.
It’s happened gradually over time… economically, politically and culturally.

And our "outsiders point of view" is an entirely western imperial point of view. It is propaganda to advance western ambition.

How has the USA "moved with the times"? Their fat glutinous population is entirely hooked on sugar, fentanyl, debt and violence.

Any criticism of Iran is just name calling at this point.
Yeah but at least in the US they're not a bunch of crazy religious fundam...nevermind.

I wasnt referring to violence. I was referring to the invitation. If there is an invitation its not an invasion.

It's all upside!

Actually, it just goes to show how either inept the Iraq 8 year war was, or how manufactured it was for the Military Industrial Complex to profit from.
Read this some time ago, probably worth another read. Explains the unfettered "capitalism" (corporate takeover of a nation) at the core of the Iraq invasion.

The world will and does tolerate totalitarian behaviour…. Have you heard about Gazza?
I'd be more than a little concerned if I were Israel right now. The USA fighting spot fires all over the world is not great for arming Israel.
I've been thinking about this recently. Gough Whitlam wanted to nationalise our resources, keep the money for Australians. This is noble and right. But had he done that, we'd just be strong-armed and potentially invaded by the US anyway.
And Gough got removed for precisely (may never be confirmed) that reason.

Australia needs to keep its head down and be patient. The UK is irrelevant now and soon the USA will collapse economically as well. When this happens Australia can rethink its sovereignty with a little more freedom as the USA will be a lot more restricted in how they can exert economic and military power.
I’ve always wondered also how Norway has gotten away with it …
I suppose they way the Norwegian sovereign wealth fund invests back into the worlds economies is one way.
Norway never gave anything up in the first place.

Australia, like the UK, took the short term sugar hit instead of maintaining their sovereignty. Having said that Australia has always been either a colony of the UK or a vassal state of the USA - not sure we have ever had that much sovereignty.
