De Goey 321K mid / forward

vs

Curnow 377K forward only
You'd want a good R0 score from either to consider really. Assume you're looking for some quick cash rather than a keeper?

Sam Walsh (543k) Vs Will Ashcroft (545k)

Definitely only cash and a few points in the bank over the first half dozen rounds

Zero chance either is a season long keeper

My current structure could really do with a midpricer forward (early days of course) — could potentially go down to another rookie priced player depending on selection but then I’ll have a fair bit of cash sitting unused

Early days but I guess Ugle-Hagen could be another option I guess

Walsh if fit (big, big if)

I worry about how many other players will be taking points in the Brisbane side

Realistically probably neither for me because I’m not sure I can be confident in Walsh’s body

For that price range Treloar is the pick of the bunch

Ok guys here is one that I've been thinking about for a while.

Finn Callaghan vs Lachie Whitfield

I know they are on different lines but I would love to start both but with the early bye I will grab only one of them.

Tough one. I too, would like both.

Feel like one of NWM/Whit/Sinclair/Ash is doable in defence. (All have the same bye).

Most people will have Flanders and Pou on that bye too.

Whitfield is more likely to be a top 6 defender than Finn is a top 8 mid, so I'd go for him.

Yes I agree and I would prefer an extra premo in Defence at the start as well.

I have had him in most of my teams so far. He was definitely out of favour with Ross and was played out of position a few times as well as being the sub in one game. I don't think he is cooked and neither do the Demons he was signed until the end of 2028. He is priced at 94 and he will be better than that by how much who knows but there won't be much competition for points in that midfield so he could go 105+ and end up as a decent M8.
LDU vs Steele? Similar price point, both no early bye. I’m weighing up both as my starting M4. LDU should be a 110 guy and was in 2024 and 2023, he’s priced at like 97 after a pretty poor year. Signed a long term deal and in the leadership group now. Does he bounce back?

I have never owned LDU but have always loved the Melts :p

Anderson or Rowell if you dont have room for both....?
Anderson.

The new tackle rules might hurt Rowell, and he won the Brownlow last year, almost always means a drop in average the following year.

I'm likely starting both due to amazing early fixture but I think you can just flip a coin.

Against their first 5 opponents (excl round 0) Rowell averaged 145 and Anderson 140 last year.

Rowell priced at 118.5 and Anderson at 114.5 Both represent tremendous value early on. Rowell very slightly more value.

The question marks on Rowell are

The question marks on Anderson are Petracca stealing some of that attacking mid points that Anderson can get when he receives out the front of the stoppages

Gawn or Bont? Need to start one.
Having both chews the bank balance up BUT might need both.
That’s bloody tough, Gawn 34 now. Will the new ruck rules affect him or will he start to decline slightly this year. Likely to still be in the top 3-4 rucks you would think. Will Oliver and trac leaving mean less hit outs to advantage?

Bont most expensive player in the game but a beast scoring wise, a low score in round zero might help the decision. I’d probably go with Gawn as he’s cheaper and still has big scoring in him if I had to only take one.

I’m hoping to take both though

Gawn.

Assuming both play every game, but Bont plays 1 less due to the bye...

Gawn: valued at 127.4 average * 23 games = 2930.2 total points
Bont: valued at 130.6 average * 22 games = 2873.2 total points

Bont costs an extra $17,200 but should be valued less than Gawn due to his guaranteed bye resulting in less predicted total points.

Unless you want to speculate on things like ruck rules, Gawn declining due to age etc but that's not tangible.

Gawn just. Dees possible decline may assist (intercept marks), and let’s face it Max doesn’t rely on anyone else to be Max. Not sure I can start without either though.
