If this series doesn't make England genuinely reflect on how bad they approach test cricket nothing will.

Complete lack of perpetration, game plan and in game tactics.

Very easy it was absolute dribble

Claiming not to be able to comprehend plain English is not the most effective riposte against someone whose post has offended you.

It weakens your claim that the post is 'dribble' if you also claim you didn't understand it. You are trying to get people to question my intelligence, not your own.

Just something to think about for next time.

So ends a bizarre series.

Well done to the Australians, a well deserved result, and a well deserved result to England too all things considered.

Tim Lane said something interesting just then - ‘England didn’t roll over here as easily as they did in some of the earlier matches.’

In retrospect i think the only match England as a team rolled over in was Perth. Their problem wasn’t that their team rolled over each game, it was that their players individually kept doing it and at the worst possible times. And that included Sydney.
I think Australia's bowling has been really underrated this series.

Test cricket is always a game of swings and roundabouts... but there will always be a what if for England. Best chance in ages to win the series here. 3 world class bowlers basically not playing.

Had us on the backfoot in Perth, then just threw it all away in the 2nd innings trying to shift that extra gear playing Bazball. They will live to rue that chance. Or, you could say it was Starc brilliance.

They've been delusional about Bazball for a while now. Can't imagine that delusion disappearing anytime soon. At least not while McCullum and Stokes are there.

just quietly 2026 New Zealand is touring Australia and its only 4 tests.

Why 4, make it 5 you losers.

anything less than 5 tests is farkin lame.

Pat Cummins has a cheek, putting on his whites like he played in this game.

Not sure he should even be a part of the celebrations after playing one test.
JFC, whinge whinge whinge.

Maybe Paul Collingwood should return his MBE for playing one test against the Australians in 2005 then?

I think Australia's bowling has been really underrated this series.

Clear gap between the two attacks. I don’t think there was much difference in the amount of ‘that’s unplayable’ deliveries that had batsmen falling over themselves or whatever. But if an English bowler beat an Australian batsman with a ball like that, you could almost guarantee he would serve up a four-ball or a get off strike ball to follow.
The Australian bowlers wouldn’t do the same. They would at worst put a ball in the channel that would make the English batsmen take a risk to hit a four or get off strike. And on the few occasions England did manage to build that sort of pressure, they would let it off with a dropped catch soon enough while Australia would turn a half chance into a wicket.

Because there are 2 winter tests for starters in August and there will be 3 tests on prime time TV against SA to watch

He played, he was captain and the Test was the Ashes winner. As our captain he was perfectly entitled to.

If England doesn’t bring in a “if you can’t field you can’t play “ attitude going forward they’ll only ever be mediocre.

It’s not just catching, Zac Crawley is a ****ing lazy campaigner. Absolute fall in behind merchant. Duckett doesn’t know how to drive for a ball without looking like he’s rolled off the sofa.

What a pack of pathetic duds.

That was a really enjoyable test. My match of the series for sure. Had a bit of everything. The pitch turned out to be excellent too. It was ultimately a batters’ paradise but had just a little bit of inconsistent bounce and spin for the bowlers so it wasn’t just a boring run fest.

I guess Adelaide was good too, but I was working for most of that one so could only catch the end of each day.

Didn't some bloke on here unload thousands of dollars worth of on bets on England?

Including going back for more after the first Test iirc.
WeightoftheWorld.

I'd tag him, but he's banned.

I'm sure the Poms do some research on their opposition but I did read that McCullum did away with team meetings because 'Harry Brook doesn't do them'

Brook comes across as a real FIGJAM to me. Doesn't seem to give a toss about how he gets out

The gap between new ball use was enormous. I don't understand why they gave it to Carse for the whole second half of the tour. He wasted it every time and got Head off to flyers.

A fit and in-form Archer is certainly not Pat Cummins, but is also definitely fit to lick his boots.

Now of course a fit and in-form Archer is often a hypothetical. But that is the point. If you can't replace a couple of fast bowlers, it means you lack depth. Injuries are a regular occurence to bowlers, so teams win series based on replacements all the time.

Australia had injured bowlers. England had injured bowlers. Australia's depth was superior. Nobody should he sooking or gloating about it.
TBF, England had their full complement of bowlers for the first test.
Australia had no Cummins and Hazlewood.

England only lost Wood for the second test.
Australia again without Cummins and Hazlewood.

Australia won both.

Sure England lost some bowlers towards the end, but the series was done and dusted by then.

It's hardly a fair comparison IMO.

I’m sorry if this is insensitive or whatever, but I really hope they reduce Glen McGrath’s involvement in the broadcast going forward. It’s a good cause and everything, but it’s just too much. I’ve started rolling my eyes whenever he comes into the comms box because it’s like he’s been on repeat for years now. Beg for money, cancer is horrible, let’s get to the dollar target. It’s not inspiring any more, it’s just boring and dour. I just wish he’d talk about cricket a bit more.
