I’ll put my Johnson on the chopping block and say, not one player will come out of India, money better spent at homeYou've got spend money to build things......
Why wouldn't we want people playing the game in other countries ?? There isnt enough talent for 18 teams and we're about to add a 19th. Why not try to create something else ??
Id figure youd want to make a decent bet.I’ll put my Johnson on the chopping block and say, not one player will come out of India, money better spent at home

Im not sure its about playing exhibition games, but i dont see an issue in trying to establish or continue to help fund a league over there.Seems like a really fruitless exercise. AFL is a highly athletic sport and India have a very poor record of producing athletes.
A few exhibition games might work given they have ovals there (but probably not). Trying to actually make the game work in India and/or have an Indian team... basically no chance of success
I cant claim to know the answer, but its not exactly a youthful product is it !!!Is his Johnson not decent?
Firstly, the AFL can’t even get the VFL right. Secondly, how about a true AFL reserves competition that’s national. Generating interest at the seconds level has so many benefits to individual clubs and the entire sport. Look at how much talent goes and plays country footy once the AFL dream is over, even if the player is still in their early 20’s. This is solely based on money, as it’s so much better than playing state league footy. This needs rectifying.Im not sure its about playing exhibition games, but i dont see an issue in trying to establish or continue to help fund a league over there.
Indians have a rich sporting culture, why not try to tap into that.
There are so many areas here for more production, it won’t help our u/18 or 19th side you bought upId figure youd want to make a decent bet.
I dont see why it borhers you so much, pretty backwards kind of mindset..
Who could forget Balraj Singh...I’ll put my Johnson on the chopping block and say, not one player will come out of India, money better spent at home
Became a country mercenaryWho could forget Balraj Singh...
He certainly didnt let anyone forget who he was.Who could forget Balraj Singh...
I found him forgettable...He certainly didnt let anyone forget who he was.
Milked country footy clubs for money before it was a thing.
Is there though ??There are so many areas here for more production, it won’t help our u/18 or 19th side you bought up
Had direct dealings with himWho could forget Balraj Singh...
Really not what I hear from country leagues and clubsIs there though ??
The biggest issue in grassroots footy isnt necessarily money, country footy clubs have lots of money.
Just look where they spend it and you'll see the issues, that's not on the AFL.
You're half right.Firstly, the AFL can’t even get the VFL right. Secondly, how about a true AFL reserves competition that’s national. So more suited to business than football?Had direct dealings with him

You dont talk to many then I assume.Really not what I hear from country leagues and clubs

If youve got clubs paying players 4 figure sums per week to play, then they must have some sort of money.
Would that not be better spent on junior programs ??

The AFL created the single biggest junior football program there is, that little thing called Auskick.
The SANFL do as much as the AFL on a shoe string buget
Get out and get involved in country footy city slickerThe AFL created the single biggest junior football program there is, that little thing called Auskick.
Yes they could do more, but what other professional sporting organisation in the world pours money into grassroots ??
Country footy money is the biggest hindrance to junior development, and not just in this state
I've been involved in country footy for the best part of 30 years old boy. In fact ive probably had more roles within clubs than most.Get out and get involved in country footy city slicker
As an honorary player Shorty?I've been involved in country footy for the best part of 30 years old boy. In fact ive probably had more roles within clubs than most.
I've seen the damage money has done to leagues, and now ive seen SA based footballers taking 50K+ to play across the border.
Thats not the fault of the AFL
